Chapter 21: First Time Doing A Party Livestream ①

It was the day of the dungeon attack with the party. Elena had arrived at the Chōfu B2 Dungeon an hour before the scheduled meeting time. To psych herself up, she had exerted herself with a more intense-than-usual “activity” the night before, and perhaps because of that, her skin was glowing with perfect radiance.

“Yuu-kun… Is he not here yet…? Nnn~”

The way she fidgeted made her look like she was waiting for her boyfriend on a date, but the goal today wasn’t a date—it was a dungeon attack. And before long, Yuu finally arrived. The moment her dream time was about to begin.

Today’s plan was to explore an unexplored zone and process a gate. Elena was mainly responsible for combat, while Yuu would handle mapping. Any monsters inside the gate were to be handled by Yuu—this was for the sake of his stream’s highlight moments. No matter how he looked at it, there weren’t many other opportunities to satisfy his need for self-affirmation in this party setup. Hence why he had to be the one who handled the dangerous monster.

“I think the Association informed you already, but it’s okay if I stream while we explore the dungeon, right?”

He activated the sphere. Thanks in part to the advance announcement, the concurrent viewer count ballooned to nearly 100,000 in an instant.

Yuu was genuinely impressed by Elena’s combat skills. Still, he remained alert to make sure she didn’t get injured. He refused to let his guard down.

Elena, on the other hand, was starting to lose focus. The monsters weren’t that difficult to deal with, so her attention began drifting toward Yuu instead.

A wolf-type monster suddenly leaped out from behind a rock. Elena’s reaction was a moment too slow. Yuu quickly pulled her into his arms and lopped off the monster’s head in one smooth motion.

The next moment, Elena collapsed to the ground. Not because of the monster—but because of Yuu’s voice in her ear. It wasn’t the touch, nor the proximity that let her smell him—it was his voice that mattered most to her.

Yuu was starting to sweat in panic. Was she pushing herself too hard? Of course, he had no time to read the stream comments.

“S-sorry… Please let me rest… Just for a bit…”

“Got it. Taking a short break is fine, but are you really okay? We can still turn back if needed…”

They resumed their advance toward the unexplored area. Elena hunted down the monsters smoothly, as if nothing had happened earlier. Yuu, too, felt relieved again, and was able to relax a bit.

“Ah, Elena-san. Stop here for a second. From this point on, it’s the unexplored area. I’ll focus on mapping, so I will leave the monsters to you, but if it’s gets too tough for you to handle, please let me know right away.” 

“Understood!”

At last, the two of them reached their first objective, the unexplored area. From here, they would begin mapping the surroundings as they made their way toward the gate.

―Probably when he handles the gate processing. Or if some really dangerous monster shows up along the way?

And so, the main part of today’s mission finally began. First up was the investigation of the unexplored area—but would they be able to accomplish their objective safely?
