Chapter 23: You Don’t Have to Force Yourself Just Because I’m the Villain… Okay? (That’s Not It)
The rest of the morning classes were spent touring Sotei Academy’s facilities and going through orientation.
Everything was pretty much the same as in my previous world, which was honestly a relief.
That said, there were only eight guys in the entire school.
With such a huge gap in the gender ratio, I couldn’t help but wonder if this would cause any issues down the line…
Well, I doubt it’ll turn into anything major!
By the time fourth period was about to end, there were only about seven minutes left.
“Alright, since it’s the first day, I’ll let you off a little early. If you’re interested in the cafeteria or the school store, you might want to check them out now.”
Leaving those words behind, Ms. Oniki stepped out of the classroom.
Yeah, Oniki-sensei really is a great teacher.
As soon as she left, the tense atmosphere in the room loosened up a bit. And now that it was lunchtime, the class instantly became lively.
“Hey, what are we doing for lunch?”
“I kinda want to check out the cafeteria~”
“I heard the school store sells a lot of different stuff too!”
“The upperclassmen probably aren’t there yet, so let’s head over and decide there~”
While the girls excitedly chatted about their lunch plans… I already had mine set.
“Reito-san, you’re really going to the cafeteria?”
From beside me, Nako asked in a small but serious voice, looking genuinely concerned.
“Yeah, just like I told you yesterday. Plus, I already have someone to eat with.”
As soon as I said that, Nako’s eyebrows twitched slightly.
“If I remember correctly… you mean Minato Amakasa-san from Class 1-A, right? He’s a guy.”
“That’s right.”
After second period, I had already told Nako that I made plans to have lunch with Minato at the cafeteria.
Since she was my support, I figured it would be best to share some information with her in advance.
Her reaction at the time was…
“You’re already getting along with another guy… Reito-san, that’s amazing! B-But two guys having lunch together in the cafeteria…?”
She started by complimenting me but then mumbled something with a strangely serious expression.
“Alright then, Nako. I’ll head to the cafeteria before it gets too crowded.”
Just as I stood up from my seat—
“W-Wait, I’m coming too!”
Nako suddenly spoke up in a flustered voice and hurriedly got up as well.
“Huh? You don’t have to push yourself, you know?”
Sure, Nako was my support, but that didn’t mean she had to follow me everywhere I went.
Besides, constantly sticking with someone she wasn’t comfortable with would probably feel suffocating for her.
At the very least, she should be able to relax and enjoy her lunch break however she wanted.
“There aren’t many guys at this school, sure, but I’ll be fine. You should spend your free time however you like, Nako.”
Even after I said that… Nako shook her head.
“Thank you for worrying about me, Reito-san. B-But… I’m your support because there are so few men (in this world). That’s why I’ll go with you. Besides, I’m not pushing myself. The reason I even accepted this role in the first place was…”
“The reason you accepted it was…?”
Did she have another reason for taking on this role?
I waited for Nako to continue, but before she could say anything, I suddenly realized that the entire class was staring at us.
“Hey, hey! I heard Hazumi-kun is going to the cafeteria today!”
“Ooh, good to know!”
“Then it’s decided—we’re going to the cafeteria!”
“I brought a bento today, but if I order dessert, I can still eat in the cafeteria, right?”
“A rare chance to have lunch in the same space as a boy…!”
“Hmm, well, I’ll be the main dish.”
The girls in class kept sneaking glances at us while whispering among themselves.
Wait… was our conversation getting that much attention?
“R-Reito-sama, I’m sorry… I must have spoken too loudly…”
Nako apologized in a small voice.
Maybe people started paying attention from the moment she suddenly declared, “I-I’m coming too!”
“No, don’t worry about it. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Reito-sama…”
I reassured her in a quiet voice before clearing my throat to reset the atmosphere.
“Well, as long as you’re not forcing yourself, it’s fine. Let’s go to the cafeteria together.”
“Y-Yes!”
With that, Nako and I left the classroom.
With all the stares coming from every direction, I didn’t feel like continuing the conversation any further.
Besides, Nako probably didn’t bring a bento today because she already knew I was planning to eat at the cafeteria.
In that case, it was better to go together for today.
I had agreed to meet Minato in front of the cafeteria.
He should already be waiting there by now…
“Ah! Reito!”
The moment our eyes met, Minato lit up with a bright smile and waved enthusiastically.
I responded with a cool expression, giving him a small wave back.
Man… this really hit differently.
Most of the girls in my class either avoided eye contact with me or looked away the moment I noticed them.
So seeing Minato so openly happy to see me… well, it kind of warmed my heart.
He’s definitely the protagonist, right?
At this point, he’s like the ultimate comfort character.
If there were a Heroine Popularity Poll, he’d totally win first place.
That said… getting along with the other guys seemed like it was going to be tough.
Back in the gym, while Minato and I were talking, the rest of the guys didn’t even try to join in.
They barely moved, let alone spoke.
It almost seemed like they wanted to stay isolated.
Well… I guess I could put dealing with them on the back burner for now.
“So, Reito, you’re with your support girl too!”
Minato glanced at Nako, who was standing beside me.
“Yeah. Is it okay if she joins us?”
“Of course!”
Minato nodded enthusiastically, flashing a bright smile.
Man, this guy is just too nice.
Just then, Nako, who had been beside me, took a small step forward.
“N-Nice to meet you! M-My name is Nako Nijou, and I serve as Reito Hazumi-san’s support…!”
“Nice to meet you too! I’m Minato Amakasa…! I only started talking to Reito today, but I’m looking forward to getting along!”
Both of them seemed a little nervous as they introduced themselves.
Also… was it just me, or was Minato’s introduction weirdly cute?
He even made sure to mention his connection to me.
“Well then, I guess I should introduce myself too. To the girl standing next to Minato.”
Right—Minato had a girl standing next to him.
Which meant she was obviously his support.
I turned my gaze toward her.
Her chestnut-colored hair, neatly maintained, flowed down to her waist. Her fair skin was almost translucent.
With her doll-like features, soft, gentle-looking eyes… and black stockings covering her slender legs below.
She had the perfect combination of elegance and grace—a flawless beauty.
And on top of that, she was the student council president’s younger sister… and most likely, one of the main heroines.
If she really was a main heroine, then that meant she could be directly tied to my doom flags…
Thinking about it made me tense up, but first impressions were everything.
I couldn’t afford to let my expression falter.
“I’m Reito Hazumi from Class 1-E. Nice to meet you.”
Hearing my introduction, the girl who had been silently standing beside Minato finally spoke.
“I serve as Amakasa-sama’s support. My name is Shizune Usano. It is a pleasure to meet you, Hazumi-sama.”
So her name was Shizune.
At the end of her introduction, she gave a soft, graceful smile… and then—
She bounced.
Where?
Her chest.
She smiled, and her chest bounced.
I had been trying my best not to think about it, but—
This girl… she had ridiculously large breasts!!
“Hazumi-sama? Is something wrong?”
“Reito-san?”
For some reason, Shizune and even Nako were both looking at me.
“…It’s nothing. Anyway, let’s not just stand around—let’s head to the cafeteria.”
“Yeah, good idea, Reito!”
Thankfully, Minato jumped in and helped steer the conversation, letting me brush it off.
Still… a villain, a protagonist, and two heroines—this was shaping up to be quite the setup right from the start.
But in the end, we were just going to the cafeteria for lunch.
…Nothing unusual was going to happen, right?
Like to believe this Minato is a crossdressing girl, but wouldn’t the school from looking at the student information?
