- A Family of Yandere Witches Living in Modern Day Won’t Let Me Go
- Chapter 14 - The Witch's Fate
After school, I wanted to invite Sho to hang out, but I decided against it.
He looked worse than ever, with dark circles under his eyes, and it didn’t seem like he was in the mood to play. Since sleeping gives him nightmares, I couldn’t just tell him to go home and rest, but I did suggest he take it easy.
“I wonder what’s really going on with him…”
This had never happened before, which only made me worry more. I wanted to talk to Aria and the others about the dream he mentioned, but Ria had told me they wouldn’t be back until late at night.
“Were you watching him again?”
“…Yeah.”
As Sho disappeared from sight, Ria called out to me. I had just heard something shocking from her during lunch, but at the same time, I remembered what happened afterward.
“Touya-kun♡”
Her hands crawling up my back, the sweet scent, and the soft pressure against my chest—all of it came rushing back to me in an instant.
(I can’t believe I held back…)
Honestly, I was out of my mind back then. With Ria and Aria’s images overlapping in my head, I almost forgot I was at school and thought about pushing her down. That’s how out of it I was.
“…Phew.”
Well, nothing actually happened in the end, but I definitely spent an intense time with Ria. When I think about it, my body starts to heat up.
“Is something wrong?”
“…No.”
“Were you thinking about what happened at lunch?”
She smiled slyly. My heart skipped a beat, and my temperature rose even higher. I couldn’t stop thinking about her today. Maybe I should just pack up my things and head home.
“Are you leaving already?”
“Yeah. I don’t have anything else to do…”
“Then, can I walk home with you?”
“…Sure.”
And so, just like this morning, I ended up walking home with Ria. As we headed towards the shoe lockers, a first-year boy tried to call out to her, but she apologized before he could even speak. He seemed taken aback and decided not to say anything further.
“Even though you just transferred, you’re already quite popular, Ria.”
“I don’t like it. It feels too much like my old school, though this one is much better in comparison.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes—because you’re here with me, Touya-kun♪”
“…”
Ria is being very forward today… I wonder if it has something to do with that conversation she had with Aria. I haven’t heard all the details yet, but something seems to have changed within her.
“By the way, Touya-kun.”
“Yeah?”
“Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?”
“Huh?”
“Please come to my house.”
She invited me over, just like that. I hesitated at first, but when I saw how sad she looked at the thought of me refusing, I eventually agreed. Seeing her smile happily made me feel like I was watching a little child get excited, and I couldn’t help but nod along.
(If I had stayed as my old self, she’d be like a grandchild to me…)
I chuckled to myself at the thought of a girl my age being my grandchild as we headed to the witch’s house together.
—
The witch’s house—just as the name suggests, it’s a grand home. But the inside was more Western-styled and comfortable than I expected, which left me feeling slightly let down.
“I thought there would at least be a magic circle since this is a witch’s house.”
“There’s nothing that obvious. Though depending on the time and place, you might find something like that. In the past, it wasn’t uncommon to see spells carved all over the rooms.”
“I see.”
It sounded like something out of a cursed room.
“We’ve got plenty of time before dinner… it’s not even five yet. So why don’t we just relax for now?”
“Oh, uh… sure.”
She suggested we relax, but what exactly was I supposed to do?
“………”
Being in a new place for the first time, I couldn’t help but look around. My house is a place full of memories with my parents, but the living room of the Saionji family felt warm and inviting. Although they had just moved in, the interior had apparently been magically transferred from their previous home, which explained the warmth I felt.
“I can feel not just Ria, but Aria and Sena here too. It’s a warm… and kind family’s home.”
“Thank you. My mother and grandmother truly cherish me.”
After that, I carefully sat down on what looked like an expensive sofa. I only managed to sit because Ria was beside me, but everything in the room, from the antiques to the decorations, seemed extremely valuable. I vowed not to touch anything for fear of breaking it. Just as I was thinking that, something I definitely shouldn’t touch came in contact with me.
“Touya-kun♪”
“?!”
Ria wrapped her arms around mine, pulling me close to her chest as if she was never going to let me go.
“Was I being too forward today?”
“Uh, well… yeah.”
“That’s understandable. The more my mother and grandmother connect with you, the more I feel the same way.”
“That…”
“That’s just how it is. Witches are like that… those who share the same blood tend to love the same person.”
It sounded like she was saying this was her fate. The thought made me feel sorry for her, but it seemed like I was worrying for nothing.
“I’ve always wanted to meet the person whose voice I loved so much. Now that we’re together, I can’t help but long for you more and more. They say it’s the witch’s fate, but for me, it’s led to a very happy destiny.”
Ria spoke so directly, pressing herself closer to me. With the fate of spending the evening together ahead of us, I wondered if I would be okay…
