A Chance To Rewrite It All - Chapter 22- I am happy for them
There were two weeks left, and the teacher told them that they had to collect the funds of the budget that Miyu had prepared by the tenth day so there could be some time to buy everything. And if they fail, they might have to cancel one of the two events.
Naturally, everyone was confident in collecting the necessary funds, some even went ahead and committed to have more than enough by the third day.
Since there was some time for the homeroom to end, the teacher allowed the students to discuss the festival and how they would be preparing.
Since the stage act would be done by girls mostly—not all of them since some of them were more interested in Yakisoba stalls—they gathered around to discuss things.
Naturally, Yuna was also invited since she was everyone’s first choice to become the main heroine in any kind of drama they chose.
Meanwhile, Sato was invited by the boy’s group, who were planning in a corner.
Although the incident a few days ago has shaken up his reputation, it doesn’t mean he suddenly became the source of their scorn. He has many friends and still, in the eyes of the teachers, Sato is an ideal student.
Those who didn’t care about the festival walked out of the class under the pretense of feeling sick.
There was only a single person who was surrounded by no group.
Ryuusuke sat at his desk and continued to write things required for programming.
He received a number from Hiyori’s father yesterday and Ryuusuke was planning to call the person so he could receive some help during the purchase. Although he was mature enough to not get fooled, he was not very knowledgeable when it came to market value and negotiation.
So he hoped he could get some help there.
*Tug*
Someone tugged his sleeve, urging him to look up, only to find a pair of bright blue eyes looking back at him,
“Are you busy?” Yuna asked as she tucked her hair strands behind her ear—making Ryuusuke momentarily dazed.
Even the small gesture of the girl was too bright and beautiful. It made his heart flutter
He instantly flipped the paper and told her, “Not busy.”
He softly caressed her cheek and asked, “Did I tell you that you look quite beautiful today?”
There was a sudden round of squealing from behind that made Ryuusuke startled and a deep blush appeared on her cheeks as she stood back up.
The ex-delinquent looked at the group of girls who were all looking at them,
“I-I came to…invite you…uh…” Her face was so red that one might think that she was feverish. She ducked her head and was fidgeting at her place—however, from the corner of her eyes, she glanced at Miyu and when she saw the girl smiling teasingly, Yuna breathed in relief.
Ryuusuke wore his indifferent mask and said, “No one shall bully Yuna.” His comment made them giggle even more as one of them got up and said,
“No one can save her from the gossip now~she must spill everything!”
Ryuusuke huffed, wanting to wrap the shy Yuna in his arms. However, he stopped when he found the teacher looking at them.
He sighed and patted her on the shoulder, “Did you need me for something?” Ryuusuke softly asked.
Yuna nodded before she said, “They wanted you to act in the drama.”
Ryuusuke was surprised, “Me? Why?” He couldn’t understand how come they all started seeing him in such a different light that they were even thinking of including him in any of these activities.
“Because the one you have to act as is also kind of delinquent.”
“…” Oh.
Ryuusuke heaved a sigh, before stepping closer to their group and asking, “What exactly are you guys planning to do?”
Naturally, he wasn’t against the drama since he already had decided to take part in whatever he could, to not spend another boring year in high school.
Miyu, who was the first person who gave the first vote to the stage act, stood up and said,
“It’s the confession scene of the anime named Maid-sama….”
While they were talking on the other side of the classroom, the group of boys were also discussing what they could do in the carnival fest.
Some were saying the yakisoba stall was a great idea, some said it should be Western food, and some were still sticking to the maid’s cafe and suggesting some feminine voice to cross-dress—which naturally was instantly rejected.
“What do you suggest, Sato?” One of the boys asked; however, getting no answer from him, the boy, along with some others, turned to look at the shaved-headed teenager.
Seeing his eyes turned toward the group of girls, and focusing on Yuna, Sato’s friend said,
“You should stop pursuing her, Sato.”
“Yeah, dude. That bastard is just too strong for us.” Another one was added.
Sato shook his head softly and with a smile he said,
“It’s okay, I am happy for them.” His response surprised them, given just a day ago he was showing evident scorn and resistance towards Ryuusuke and Yuna’s relationship.
And now, all of a sudden, he was saying that it was fine?
Strange guy.
The classes resumed from the second period, and the students were told to practice their stage act after school for an hour before returning home.
Naturally, no one complained since an hour was hefty enough.
….
During the fourth period, Ryuusuke spent the whole time writing down all the required materials for the software development and also what he could find in the market.
He had to use his phone time after time to see what was available in the market before choosing the best option.
And because of that, the teacher noticed him, “You, tell me the answer.” It was the math period, and the teacher always remained annoyed by troublesome students, in which Ryuusuke came at the top.
Ryuusuke glanced at the blackboard before thinking for a moment before answering,
“Sixty-four.” It was a question from height and distance and since most of the information was given, Ryuusuke didn’t find it much difficult to answer.
Miyu frowned as she hurriedly solved the question and was astounded to see the answer was right.
The teacher coughed before telling him, “Don’t use your phone in the classroom.”
A round of gasps echoed in the classroom as they realized that Ryuusuke had answered correctly.
Ryuusuke, in response to the warning, raised his hands to show he no longer was using his phone. After all, he was already done with his list.
**TRRRRR**
Soon, the bell rang, and lunch break arrived.
Ryuusuke inserted his books back inside his bag and found his phone screen lighting up.
He checked the notification and found it was from Yuna.
[Wait for me on the rooftop]
When Ryuusuke looked at her seat, he found she was not sitting there anymore.
It had been only a few seconds since the bell rang which surprised him,
‘Where did she run off to?’
