A Chance To Rewrite It All - Chapter 21- Choice
Cultural festival—the time of the year when Ryuusuke had the license to wander around and care about no teacher.
He couldn’t remember if he ever participated in any event, even though he was good at sports. He just didn’t like communicating with people who weren’t his friends, and also, given his personality, they couldn’t select him as a member.
However, now that Ryuusuke has the opportunity, he would take advantage of it and make a few memories with Yuna being a prominent part of them.
So in a way, he was thankful for the teacher and Sato—if he had any interference in this.
‘If he has asked the teacher to make me the management in charge, then he surely will try to ruin the event…’ Naturally, he was not letting any of such plans succeed.
Since there was not much time left, the class teacher told them to decide what they would like to do during the cultural festival.
Standing on the podium, Ryuusuke and the class Rep heard the teacher saying, “You have this period, so don’t take it long.” Saying so the teacher walked to sit in the corner and began to write something.
Ryuusuke sighed and asked the class rep, “We should get their opinion first?”
Miyu nodded and was about to call out, “Okay, so-” but then Ryuusuke planted his hand on her shoulder hurriedly, making the smile on Yuna’s face a little strained, as he said, “Wait!”
Ryuusuke knew the consequences of allowing them to share their opinion so he went ahead and told her to stop.
Miyu raised her brows before Ryuusuke removed his hand and told the class, “You have one minute, write your suggestion in a paper and leave it here.”
Everyone instantly took out a page and wrote their ideas on the paper.
Miyu smiled at the ex-blond and said, “Great idea; they would have become noisy.”
Ryuusuke smiled at her and gave a faint nod.
When his eyes went towards Yuna, he found her looking back at him with a smile.
He smiled at his girlfriend before urging her with his eyes to write something.
Yuna also took out a small note and wrote her choice.
After two minutes hardly, Ryuusuke and Miyu had everyone’s response, which they opened and noted down on the blackboard.
Since the number of boys was almost twice the number of girls, the number of votes for the maid café was overwhelming.
However, there were several votes for a stage play as well, which greatly surprised Ryuusuke. He thought it would be a complete defeat, however, there were eighteen votes for stage play as well.
“Hell yeah! Maid’s café is it!”
“Gotta see Urama-san in a maid’s outfit~~~”
The male population of the class went wild except for a few, and mostly…or more like, every girl showed displeasure at the choice.
Ryuusuke sighed, he knew it.
He was about to ask Miyu to tell them the decision but the class representative turned towards the teacher and said,
“Sensei, this is unacceptable.” Her voice was like a sharp knife severing the noise of the classroom as everyone quieted down.
The teacher looked up and turned her eyes toward the blackboard, “What’s the problem with the maid café? Isn’t it in trend now?”
“Yeah!” Another boy got up, only to receive a glare from Miyu, shutting the kid instantly.
She retaliated, “But we did the same thing last year and there are other classes who will do the same thing!”
Another girl stood up, “Yes! If anything we should have a stage play!”
There were a few more voices, showing great reluctance to dress as a maid and behave politely with those lecherous guests who come here only to ogle at them.
Ryuusuke was also against it since he couldn’t have let anyone see his Yuna in a maid’s uniform. Only he was allowed to see his girlfriend in a maid uniform!
“But sensei! We all can’t participate in the stage act! Then what will we do?” A boy from the back got up and asked the teacher.
Then another girl got up and showed reluctance. And then another and another.
Seeing the conflict the teacher sighed and looked at Ryuusuke with an expression that said, ‘Handle this mess…’
Ryuusuke wanted to say, ‘Aren’t you relying on me too much all of a sudden?’ but then he held back and turned toward the class.
Seeing the noisy lot, he heaved a sigh, his eyes turned cold and in a domineering voice he said,
“Stop now!”
His voice was loud and clear, making everyone silent in an instant and remember that Ryuusuke was still the delinquent who had sent people to the hospital in the past.
Once they quieted down, he said, “We can never reach a definite conclusion like this. It is a valid point that not every student can participate in the stage act and it’s also a valid point that we don’t need to arrange a maid cafe and force the girls to wear something they don’t want.”
His words made it clear that he had thought of a middle way, and his following words cleared all doubts,
“So we will have both; a stage act and a yakisoba stall.”
The class suddenly turned even more silent hearing that, before they started murmuring.
It was not a bad idea, considering those who wanted to have a cafe could participate in the stall and offer food to earn quick cash. While those wanted to take part in the act can take their selected cast and perform on the stage.
Miyu was impressed at how easily Ryuusuke solved the problem and without losing his cool…well, he got frustrated, but from what she could see, it was only to silence them.
The teacher got up from her seat and said, “Although the plan seems nice, what about the funds?” Once she was on the podium, she added, “Two events mean more funds and the amount which the school can provide will be enough to only buy a few dresses at most.”
Suddenly one of those boys who was arguing earlier raised his hand and said, “We will collect the sum through donations and sponsors, sensei!”
A girl who was supporting the stage act also said, “We have our New Year allowance as well, sensei!”
Seeing everyone proposing their sources to collect the funds, Ryuusuke smiled,
‘At least they are united in something…’
