A Chance To Rewrite It All - Chapter 18- Returning home

The check-up was done and all the reports would come out tomorrow in the evening. And since there was no immediate risk, Ryuusuke was allowed to take his Mom back home.

Yuna also returned home; she decided to meet his mother tomorrow and about the meeting, Ryuusuke had yet to inform his mother.

Seriously, it fills his heart with happiness that Yuna wants to become a part of his life so eagerly, and for that, she wants to overcome every possible obstacle waiting for them.

Although Ryuusuke assured her that his mother wouldn’t resist letting them date, Yuna took this as a challenge and said, ‘I need to prepare for tomorrow!’

She pumped her fist and showed the final exam level of determination.

Ryuusuke just asked her to not force herself before he sent her home.

Now, returning home, Ryuusuke picked some groceries from the shop and some healthy snacks which his mother could eat.

They were walking side by side, when suddenly Himiko asked, “The job you took…why don’t you look serious about it?”

Ryuusuke was startled to hear that, and there was genuine concern in her voice.

Ryuusuke heaved a sigh after calming down and informed her, “First, I don’t have enough equipment to begin and second, if I take it seriously, I will get it done by the day after tomorrow.”

“Then do it, Ryuu. I don’t want to take any chances which could push you into trouble.” Himiko added as she held his hand in anxiety.

A huge sum her son has taken and the other party has provided the funds based on nothing but trust. As such, Himiko wanted him to take things seriously.

Ryuusuke held her hand assuringly, and told her, “Tomorrow, I will get done with everything I need and start working on it, for real. Trust me.”

Himiko heaved a sigh, and with a smile, she said, “Don’t know why, but recently, the same irresponsible son of mine says such things that make me believe that I am facing a whole new person.”

Ryuusuke chuckled as they finally reached their home—only to come to a gradual halt when they found a black Mercedes parked outside the house.

Himiko’s grip around Ryuuske’s hand tightened as she spotted a bald man standing before the car and looking at Ryuusuke.

“Mister-” The bald man was about to say something when suddenly Ryuusuke raised his hand to stop him and said,

“I will be back. Wait for me.”

He led a confused Himiko inside and once they stepped in, Himiko immediately asked, “Do you know him?”

Ryuusuke nodded, “Ah, yeah. I forgot I had a meeting with Hiyori today. He came to get me.”

Himiko frowned, “You aren’t lying to me right?”

Ryuusuke shook his head, “No, mom. I received the notification in the evening so I never got the chance to notify you.”

Himiko looked at her son worryingly and asked, “Is it something concerning?”

Ryuusuke calmly responded, “No, ma. It’s just the requirements she wants to discuss with me regarding the software I am developing. And since she would be going out of the nation tomorrow, she decided to have this meeting on short notice.”

Himiko understood everything, but still, her heart was beating heavily.

In the end, she said that he had to call her if something happened, and just to be sure, Himiko gave Ryuusuke pepper spray.

Ryuusuke helplessly smiled before giving his mother a brief hug and walking out of the house.

His expression turned stiff looking at the man before he asked, “Your name?”

The man responded, “Hojou Takashi.”

Ryuusuke nodded before he called Hiyori and not so long after,

[Hey, Ryuusuke. Did you get into the car?]

“First tell me the driver’s name you sent for me.”

[Hmm? It’s Takashi…something…he is bald and must be wearing large black glasses. He thinks he looks cool in them.]

Since the volume was high, the man heard each of those words and felt extremely embarrassed. Hurriedly he took off his glasses and proceeded to open the backseat door for Ryuusuke.

The ex-blond apologetically smiled at Takashi and climbed onto the seat.

“Well, I am inside the car. Will reach you in a few minutes probably.” Ryuusuke told her.

[Umm…I am sorry for all this trouble, Ryuusuke.]

“Ah, it’s nothing. I can understand.”

It turned out, her father found out about the deal she made with Ryuusuke. And since it involved his daughter’s ex, the man must have thought that Ryuusuke might cause trouble for Hiyori and disturb her marriage.

As such, he asked for a meeting with Ryuusuke to settle everything—but that’s not what Hiyori said. She just said that her father wanted to ask a few questions about the app he was developing.

Well, Ryuusuke could understand her father’s perspective and avoiding such an influential man could become dangerous; especially for someone who is going to deal with many big companies in the future.

So Ryuusuke decided to take the safest option and meet the man when he asked politely.

He already anticipated this when he went to ask for a contract from Hiyori. And unlike the time when Ryuusuke was facing the parents of his girlfriend, he wasn’t anxious at all to meet one of the top businessmen in Japan.

The car soon halted before a tall building before Ryuusuke stepped out.

Although he didn’t wear a formal suit and he was not riding his car, this was nothing but one of those problematic cases that he needed to solve calmly.

‘Let’s see how it goes…’
