- A Case in Which My House Is a Gathering Place for Girls
- Chapter 44: The Ground Hardens After Rain
Despite many twists and turns, the bazaar managed to end well. We had a small launch with a pleasant feeling of fatigue and a refreshing sense of accomplishment.
“I’m sooooo sorry, Hanazono-san!! Really, I’m so sorry!!”
“Ahaha… you’ve apologized so many times, so it’s all right.”
As the sun began to set, a female student clung to Kanna with tears streaming down her face as she repeatedly apologized in the dimly lit classroom.
“But… I’ve said a lot of hurtful things about Hanazono-san… I’m really sorry!”
Kanna pats the girl on the back looking puzzled. The emotional scene earned a round of applause from the classmates present in the room.
“Hey, Itsuki. What are we watching right now?”
“Don’t say anything more, Asakura-san. I don’t quite understand.”
“I’m sorry for bad mouthing behind your back. It’s good to be able to apologize.”
Sasazuki stated matter-of-factly while munching on some snacks from an unknown source. Indeed, the girl clinging to Kanna and crying her heart out was the same one who had once whispered, “Isn’t she doing compensated dating or something?” behind her back.
However, since Kanna herself did not hear the statement directly, it is not surprising that she is being apologized like this.
“Well, at any rate. I’m so glad the bazaar ended well, though there were many things.”
“And Katsuragi-sensei said we achieved the highest sales in history. I mean, we’ve made a name for ourselves in history.”
Sasazuki puffed up proudly, but the crumbs on her lips ruined the effect. Still, she wasn’t wrong—our class’s deer horn accessories were the best-selling items in bazaar history.
Moreover, many people couldn’t buy it because it was sold out early. The principal even suggested that we make it and sell it at Kanna’s company.
I was able to come up with this plan because Kanna kept holding the strap I gave her.
“I heard that the previous record was set by Katsuragi-sensei’s senior. And they kept breaking the record for the third consecutive year.”
The mention of it brought to my mind the image of our old mentor while smirking cynically.
“It’s okay, we just need to break the record for three consecutive years.”
“Hehe. There’s certainly nothing we can’t do. Is that right, Itsuki?”
“If we can pull off another ultra-C stunt like this time, it might be possible.”
No matter how rare deer horn accessories are in the city, there is another factor that has caused such a response.
That factor was an article. A special feature on the annual bazaar at Amahashiritsu Academy.
The content is mainly about our classes, and there are pictures of Kanna and our classmates all happily making deer horn accessories.
At the end of the article, a comment from Kanna was “Working together with everyone to create something was incredibly fun.”
“I contacted the manager who was on vacation leisurely and asked them to find out the contact information of the reporter and their boss. I did my best.”
“After that, I contacted the reporters and told them that I would accept a rare solo interview. On condition that they write a special article about the bazaar.”
The people who worked on this article were Asakura and Sasazuki.
The previous operation of the Hammurabi Code Strategy, which Sasazuki mentioned before, was to hit another article to digest the article on fire.
Of course, the price—Asakura will be interviewed alone and was paid, but now Kanna’s impression has been restored, and more than that, more than usual people gathered at the bazaar, and accessories were sold out. It’s a double gain.
“Both of you, thank you for doing this for Kanna.”
“It’s nothing. Just as Kanna is an important childhood friend to Itsuki, Kanna is an important friend to me. If she’s in trouble, I’ll do whatever I can to help.”
“Me, too. She might be a bit of a pervert, but Hanazono-san is still my dear friend. This much is a no-brainer.”
When they said so lightly, they went under Kanna, who was asking for help. The girl, who was crying and being hugged, was in trouble surrounded by everyone else. It’s no wonder that Kanna panicked as she was often alone but had no other experience. Still, she looked like she was having fun, so I left the support to Asakura and the others.
“I never thought I’d bring a deer horn. And you’ve processed all those corners by yourself, haven’t you?”
I was standing by the window and staring blankly at my childhood friend when Wada, holding juice in both hands, approached me. I answered while shrugging my shoulders, as I received the offer.
“Not all by yourself. I had my grandfather and my teacher help me, too. I’ve been working on it for about three days without sleep.”
“Itsuki, you say that so casually, but that’s seriously crazy. You do realize you’re abnormal, right?”
“Ahaha… Yeah, I guess I did push myself a bit too hard. I’m heading home early. I’m exhausted. Let everyone know for me.”
With that, I left the classroom. Before I walked out, I glanced at Kanna one last time. She was smiling happily and was surrounded by her classmates.
“She’ll be fine now.”
Kanna is not alone anymore. I made my way home with mixed feelings—half relieved and half lonely.
