A Case in Which My House Is a Gathering Place for Girls - Chapter 35: Premonition
After a hectic dinner, the time is now past eight o’clock in the evening. While Kanna and Asakura were doing the washing, I was patting Sasazuki’s head on my lap for some reason. I felt like I finally understood why pet owners wanted to dote on their puppies.
“Haa… This is paradise. It was worth the effort to cook.”
In contrast to the delightful Sasazuki, I hear the two moans mixed with anger, jealousy, and resentment from the kitchen, but I try to ignore them. If I paid attention, I might end up cursed.
“By the way, is there a bazaar at the end of the month? What should we put up for sale this year?”
“Bazaar? I didn’t hear that there was such a thing.”
I wonder if I missed Misuta-sensei’s story. However, there is no possibility that she simply forgot to bring it up.
“Jinpei-kun is a high school student, so it’s no wonder he doesn’t know. This bazaar is an annual event that all students at Amahashiritsu Gakuen know.”
“From elementary school to high school. Each person sells things that are no longer needed or used at home to the people who need them.”
The two of them came back to the living room after washing up and said that it was like a big festival.
“Huh… so there’s an event like that. But wait, could it be that Misuta-sensei didn’t mention it because it’s something so obvious that everyone is expected to know!?”
“It’s not impossible, but I don’t think so. In any case, high school students and others have very different enthusiasm for the event.”
“What do you mean?”
“Elementary and junior high school students are supposed to donate all their sales, but high school students are supposed to keep a portion of their profits. Then Itsuki, what do you think they use that money for?”
In response to Asakura’s question, I replied “I had no clue at all.” Wouldn’t it be better to make a uniform full donation regardless of the grade? Asakura smirked and revealed the answer while I tilted my head in thought.
“Some of the proceeds from the bazaar can be compensated for the autumn festival. If you become a high school student, you will also be required to become independent.”
“I see. In other words, to make good memories, we should think it out for ourselves…”
The festival is one of the top three school events. It’s not just fun to do it, but it’s pretty cool to prepare things in advance that make a difference between classes.
“We can think about what we will sell from high school, so we would like to make and sell handmade goods with everyone in the class other than the unnecessary items we brought. It can be differentiated from others.”
“We can certainly expect a lot of sales if we can get it ready. I wish we could pull it off.”
“Many of these predecessors have come up with the same idea and tried to do it, but the results are terrible. Tragedy that ends with the deficit hanging out.”
The bazaar will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at the end of the month. In other words, the preparation period is only a little over two weeks. It is almost impossible to prepare handmade goods with this.
“That’s why we all work hard together! Whether it goes well or not, I think it will be a fun memory!”
“That’s true.”
In the countryside, the number of students was small, so I’m looking forward to these large-scale school events because I have no experience. However, I was extremely happy that Kanna seemed to be having more fun than that.
“Whatever we do, we’ll have to decide after tomorrow. Rather than that, how long will Mika stay on Itsuki’s lap?”
“Wasn’t the deal just to have him pat your head!? Why are you sitting on his lap like it’s the most natural thing in the world!? Hand that spot over to me immediately!”
“Uh, no thanks?”
Sasazuki’s remark, which cuts everything down with a single stroke, once again roars the spark of the fight that should have been extinguished, and I sigh deeply. But at this point, their noisy back-and-forth had become part of my daily life. If it suddenly disappeared, I might actually feel lost.
The day after I was thinking about it with ease. Things took a roll in an unexpected direction.
