── “Limit Acceleration.”
This magic, once known by the moniker “Unmatched Dictator, Chronos Dictator,” explosively accelerates the caster’s dynamic visual acuity and physical movement speed.
Viewed superficially, it might seem similar to “Physical Enhancement Magic,” merely enabling faster movement. However, there’s a significant difference.
While “Physical Enhancement Magic,” even when used by A-class magicians, increases speed only to about 20-30 km/h, “Limit Acceleration” allows the caster to sprint at near-sonic speeds. Moreover, it enhances dynamic visual acuity to the extent that even an arrow shot from a bow appears stationary to the caster.
It’s a power that transcends human capabilities, a magic that once allowed a single magician to dominate battlefields in the ancient world of incessant territorial conflicts, earning the title “Unmatched Dictator, Chronos Dictator.”
It’s an extremely rare magic with very few known practitioners throughout history due to its highly specific requirements.
During his duel with Eliza Loredo, Shion Kurosaki utilized “Limit Acceleration,” effortlessly dodging all incoming spells.
Why could a mere C-class magic student like him wield such high-level magic? The simple answer: sheer luck.
Each individual has strengths and weaknesses in the magic they can perform. General magicians excel in converting their magic power to external output, while close-combat fighters are better at enhancing their physical abilities with magic. There are also variations like affecting matter with magic, and each type of magic has its own specialty area.
Typically, these specialties are determined by the nature of the magic power flowing within a person from birth, and it’s rare to excel in multiple areas.
Even magicians with suitable magic power for their field have strengths and weaknesses based on the type of magic they wield. For instance, a magician adept in fire, water, wind, and lightning might struggle with earth magic, and vice versa.
Even a magician who seems inept in most magic types might possess extraordinary talent in one specific area due to their inherent magic aptitude.
For Shion, “Limit Acceleration” was precisely the magic he was apt for. His inability to handle most magic and his proficiency in “Limit Acceleration” were both part of his innate talents.
However, being naturally able to use a high-level magic like “Limit Acceleration” might sound fortunate, but the path to mastering it was far from easy for Shion.
Aware of his below-average magical talent, he spent his childhood searching for magic that suited him, aiming to master at least one spell that he could excel in.
Unable to intuitively understand magic, he diligently studied magic compositions and formulas, spending an immense amount of time searching for magic that matched his abilities. He meticulously studied countless spells, attempting to activate each one.
But he couldn’t properly activate even a single one.
“If you can handle the next spell, you’ll be strong.” “If you use the next one, you might be able to activate it yourself.”
No matter how many times he harbored hope, it was always cruelly crushed.
Despite relentless effort, the only truth he constantly faced was his lack of talent.
Yet, he never gave in to despair. No matter how often he was confronted with his lack of talent, he never gave up. He believed as long as he didn’t give up, there was a chance. As long as he kept standing up, he believed there was light ahead.
And then, he achieved it.
A magic unmatched by anyone else.
His unwavering spirit, his unyielding heart, grasped the spell known as “Limit Acceleration.” It demanded an extraordinary concentration that always pushed the caster’s consciousness to its limits during activation.
Was Shion’s mastery of this spell mere coincidence, or was it fate? This spell stood high above all others he could handle.
For Shion Kurosaki, it was his ultimate trump card.
In the duel against Eliza Loredo, ranked third in her school year, he was cornered but fought back with this trump card. He approached her while dodging every single one of her “Annihilating Whirlwind Rain Shot,” unscathed.
When he was just over two meters away from Eliza, she ceased her magic and leaped backward in surprise. Shion quickly closed the gap. He calmly faced the astonished Eliza, held out his right palm towards her, and simply declared, “Checkmate.”
But then, immediately after…
“Don’t you dare underestimate me!”
Eliza Loredo roared.
Thinking Shion was either showing mercy or asking for surrender by just holding out his palm without casting a magic circle, she was furious. “(I haven’t lost yet!)” She cast a massive magic circle in front of her and chanted with intense emotion, “Giant’s Frozen Fist!”
A gigantic fist made of ice emerged from the magic circle. The “Giant’s Frozen Fist,” launched straight at Shion, hit him directly and sent him flying back with a strong impact.
As the ice fist pressed him hard, Shion expelled air from his lungs.
Exhausted, Eliza stopped pouring magic into the circle, and the ice fist shattered into tiny crystals and disappeared. Shion, losing support, collapsed to his knees and then fell face down.
Eliza watched this with a stern expression, on high alert for Shion to stand up and attack her again at an incredible speed.
She reasoned that there must be a reason why Shion was hit so easily by the “Giant’s Frozen Fist,” after dodging her previous spell so skillfully. Perhaps he thought the “Giant’s Frozen Fist” was not worth dodging.
She suspected he still had something up his sleeve, that he took the hit on purpose to set up a counterattack.
“Such a man, capable of handling such amazing magic, can’t be finished just like that,” she thought, watching Shion intently as he lay by the wall.
However, Shion just rolled over onto his back and simply waved his hands side to side, surrendering easily.
“I’m beaten, I surrender.”
He declared his defeat in the duel very easily, waving his hands from side to side as if he were holding a small flag.
