- Chapter 13: The Dark God of Destruction
After the mock battle that same day, Shion was helping his homeroom teacher, Lestia, with class preparations. He was asked to fetch some equipment for a classroom experiment and found himself in front of the storage warehouse where the equipment was kept.
As Shion entered the warehouse, recalling the equipment and quantities needed, he suddenly noticed a figure inside. Turning towards it, he saw a female student who seemed to be in the middle of changing. She was half-dressed, skirt partially on, frozen in a stooped position.
Shion, too, stood frozen, silently facing the girl. Time seemed to stand still for both of them.
Then, suddenly, the silence was shattered.
“Guahhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
Shion broke the quiet first, screaming and clutching his chest with his right hand as if in immense pain, and collapsed to the ground.
“Shh! Be still, be still…! This won’t dominate me… I don’t want to… destroy this world!”
He cried out in apparent agony, struggling against some unseen force. But gradually, his voice weakened.
“The darkness won’t consume me… Quiet, be still…”
His voice faded, and silence returned to the warehouse.
Then, a small, eerie chuckle echoed in the room. It was Shion, still crouched on the ground.
“Hahahahahahaha!”
He suddenly looked up, laughing loudly, his eyes now a creepy shade of purple.
“At last, the time has come! This body is now mine! Fuhahahahaha!”
Shion laughed maniacally, seemingly unable to contain his excitement.
“Heheh… Hoohahahahaha!”
After a about of laughter, he sighed contentedly.
“Foolish humans, trying to contain the Dark God of Destruction, Vasago Deus Gregor, within a mere mortal… What folly…”
He muttered, standing up slowly.
“But this wretched body resisted more than expected… It took far too long to resurrect…”
Shion spoke with disdain but then shrugged it off.
“…”
The female student in the room had no significant reaction to his bizarre behavior.
What was Shion talking about? Had some entity possessed him, or had he gone mad?
Neither. This was all an act, a desperate attempt to escape a compromising situation he had inadvertently caused by witnessing the girl changing.
He screamed, crouched in pain, laughed madly, changed his eye color, and spoke nonsensically to create chaos and distract from the fact that he had seen her changing.
He planned to make everything in the room so chaotic that the fact he had seen her changing would be forgotten.
Adopting the persona of a “Dark God of Destruction” sealed within himself, Shion performed his outrageous act perfectly.
Now, he just needed to leave the warehouse amidst this tumultuous distraction.
“Anyway, it’s been a while since I’ve been in the human world…”
Fully in character, Shion continued speaking.
“First, destruction, slaughter. Ah, the thrill! What shall I destroy first? Who shall I kill?”
He turned towards the warehouse door.
I should start with the royal family who sealed me. Kill the king, make the palace my fortress. Hehehe.”
Grinning, he chuckled ominously.
“Foolish humans, enjoy your remaining time… until you’re trampled and eradicated by the Dark God of Destruction, Vasago Deus Gregor…”
Laughing maniacally, he started walking towards the door, planning to leave the warehouse.
But then…
“Fuhahahahaha—Whoa!”
Shion suddenly slipped and fell. The floor beneath him had been frozen just then, not by accident, but by magic.
The caster of this magic, the girl he had seen changing, spoke from behind him.
“You think you can just peek at me changing and get away with it?”
Shion’s plan had failed spectacularly.
