Volume 9 Chapter 9 The navel of the continent
On the evening after witnessing the wyvern subjugation, Ruisha and his friends gathered on the deck of the magical airship.
Everyone leaned out of the railing, peering down at the ground below, seemingly searching for something.
“Oh! Look over there!”
Suddenly, Burn exclaimed loudly and pointed at a spot. As classmates turned their eyes in the direction he pointed, they saw a much larger ‘hole’ in the ground than this magical airship.
The diameter was approximately two kilometers. The inside of the hole was shrouded in darkness, and even the sunlight couldn’t penetrate to the depths.
This gigantic hole, also called the ‘Navel of the Continent,’ was named the ‘Unclean Cavern.’ As the name suggested, it was a grotesque hole filled with unclean entities.
The vicinity of the hole emitted a putrid smell, making it nearly impossible to approach, but the stench didn’t reach from the sky. From a safe vantage point, Ruisha and his friends could thoroughly observe this enormous hole.
“This is a great opportunity to observe carefully. ‘Unclean Cavern’ is one of the ‘Continental Relics’ that ordinary people rarely lay eyes on. It’s a precious experience to be able to see it,” emphasized Regas, the Z-Class homeroom teacher. He had been mobilized for the school festival as a guardian of the students.
Before becoming the Z-Class homeroom teacher, he used to be a geography teacher, so he was very knowledgeable about countries and territories. It was safe to say he was the perfect choice to accompany and guide the students.
“It seems that colossal hole was formed back when humanity began using written language. In other words, it has been around for thousands, if not more, of years. Originally, this hole was just a hollow, and the theory goes that it started emitting this intense stench when a certain religious group disposed of what they deemed impure into this hole. However, this theory has its contradictions and so on…”
“Here comes the geography nerd teacher. Who’s gonna listen to this?”
Watching Regas passionately delve into geographical facts, Burn muttered in exasperation.
Indeed, most of the students weren’t paying attention to his lecture, instead eagerly gazing down at the hole in the ground.
Amidst this, only the study enthusiasts, Ben Galidaril and Ruisha, were earnestly listening to Regas.
“Hmm, experiencing a lesson on-site is truly the best, isn’t it, Ruisha!”
“Yeah, it’s really sinking in!”
Watching the two of them genuinely enjoying the lesson, even Burn was taken aback.
As each person enjoyed themselves in their own way, Wolf, who had been looking down, suddenly exclaimed loudly.
“Oh! It’s finally coming into view!”
Beyond the Unclean Cavern, what appeared was a city of enormous scale rivaling the capital.
Ruisha let out a gasp at the sight of the city.
“That’s the ‘Eternal Neutral Nation of Sanctria…! That’s where we’re headed!”
Unlike the predominantly stone houses in the capital, Sanctria’s structures were mostly made of metal.
And what stood out the most was the ‘height’ of these buildings. The sight of buildings ten stories or taller towering was not commonly seen on this continent.
This city with a futuristic appearance akin to a near-future metropolis was highly popular among the youth.
“I wonder what’s going to happen…!”
As Ruisha watched the magical airship lower in altitude and descend into the city, he felt his heart fluttering with anticipation for the yet unseen adventure.

Volume 9 Chapter 10 Eternal Neutral Nation of Sanctria
The Eternal Neutral Nation of Sanctria. The foundation and structure of this country, where the Grand School Festival is held, are fundamentally different from other nations.
This nation was founded approximately 250 years ago. At that time, relations between the kingdom and the empire were even worse than they are now, and wars were erupting across the continent.
For a long time, skirmishes between the kingdom and the empire had continued, to the point where the exact start was lost in time due to missing records. During this period, the relations between these two nations deteriorated to their worst, and conflicts were happening daily somewhere. At this time, the forces of the two nations were evenly matched, and the war turned into a quagmire. Gradually, both countries were exhausted, and soldiers emerged to attack other unrelated nations for provisions.
At this rate, the human race on the continent would lose its strength, and there was a risk of invasion by the demon race. Recognizing this, the ‘Sages,’ great mages from various parts of the continent, made efforts to calm the conflict and succeeded in achieving a ceasefire.
To ensure that this tragedy was not forgotten and never repeated, they established this nation in the center of the continent.
The kingdom, the empire, and other nations have signed a treaty not to attack Sanctria. If this treaty is broken, disasters set by the Sages will strike the country. Therefore, flashy battles do not occur, and only minor skirmishes take place.
Hosting a martial arts tournament in this symbol of peace also serves as a means for each country to let off some steam.
“Phew, the sky is nice, but the ground is still comforting.”
After disembarking from the magical airship and setting foot on the ground, Ruisha, feeling the ground for the first time in two days, let out a sigh of relief.
His classmates were also in awe of the ground, jumping and frolicking around.
“Everyone, please go to the dorms. I have things to take care of, so I’ll part ways here.”
Saying this, Yuri, along with his attendant Ibuki, was about to part ways with Ruisha and the others.
“What do you have to do?”
“Oh, I am the representative in charge of this year’s Grand Festival. This event is a large-scale one involving the entire nation. Usually, my father or one of his trusted aides accompanies and greets dignitaries from other countries. However, this time, I am taking on that role.”
“I see, that sounds quite demanding…”
Though Ruisha didn’t know the specifics of what he would be doing, he could imagine that it came with a significant responsibility. Yuri would have to act as a representative of the kingdom and interact with representatives from other countries. The pressure on him would undoubtedly be immense.
“First, I have to meet the representative of this country. If I keep them waiting, it’ll give a bad impression. I need to go quickly.”
As Yuri spoke, he seemed more hurried than usual. Even with Ibuki by his side, the pressure he was under couldn’t be easily brushed aside.
In that case, there was only one thing Ruisha should do now. He made a suggestion to Yuri with a determined look.
“I’ll go with you. Having more guards is better, isn’t it?”
“You’re going too… There’s no way I’d let you do that. You’re not related to the kingdom.”
“That’s true, but I’ll go with you, even if I have to force my way. If you want to stop me, feel free to do so by force.”
“You’re stubborn in strange ways…”
Yuri sighed and turned to Ibuki. Normally, it would be Ibuki’s role to stop Ruisha, but he was casually whistling with both hands behind his helmet. It seemed he couldn’t expect any support.
“Fine, I get it, I get it. I’ll give in. Well then, can I entrust you with the escort, Mr New Attendant?”
“Leave it to me, Your Highness. I’ll protect you even if it costs me my life.”
Ruisha made an exaggerated bow like an actor playing a knight, then followed him as if he were a knight playing his role.
