Volume 9 Chapter 3 Genesis King
The magical airship SkyFort was equipped with various facilities, and each of the Ruisha’s members explored them.
Ben and Lona, who loved books, immersed themselves in the library. Yuri and Ibuki, who were keen on examining the magical airship in detail, explored the ship for a long time. However, most of their classmates gathered in the spacious common area of the ship and started playing after about two hours.
It seemed that even the magical airship, created by harnessing the latest technology, couldn’t keep their curiosity at bay for long.
“Let’s go! My turn, summon Red Wyvern!”
Shouting so, Burn placed a card on the table, and the card emitted light as a red dragon appeared in the sky. It was an impressive red flying dragon of about two meters in size.
Burn looked at the dragon, rubbing his nose proudly, and provocatively taunted Chisha, who was standing on the opposite side of the table.
“How about that? My ultimate rare card! Can your monsters defeat this!?”
“Even for Burn, you have some pretty good cards. But I won’t lose!”
“Heh, I wonder how long you can keep up the act? Go, Red Wyvern! Attack Chisha’s monster!”
Following Burn’s command, the Red Wyvern incinerated the blue slime summoned by Chisha with a breath of flames. Their classmates watching the flashy ‘battle’ cheered and cheered in excitement.
They were engrossed in a card game called ‘Genesis King,’ currently a huge craze in the royal capital.
This wasn’t just a regular card game; the designs on the cards would come to life as visuals. By lightly channeling magic into the cards, one could witness incredibly powerful visuals. It was a popular card game not only among children but also adults.
By the way, the characters and monsters that appeared in this card game were actual beings in this world. Collecting cards of the heroes from one’s own country added to the excitement, making it a fervently pursued collectible. The sales of these cards showed no signs of slowing down.
“You’re good, Burn. Well then, shall I play my trump card too? I offer two Slimes on the field as tributes and summon the ultra-rare card, ‘Empire’s Sword Chrome’!”
In front of Chisha appeared a swordsman clad in black military attire. Though his face was partially hidden under his hat, what could be glimpsed revealed a remarkably well-formed visage.
With Chrome’s appearance, the excitement among their classmates reached its peak. This individual was so famous, and his card was so popular that merely possessing it earned respect from the students.
“That’s the ‘Empire’s Sword.’ First time seeing it.”
Ruisha, who had been watching their card battle from a distance, murmured softly.
Feeling hungry, Ruisha and Sharo were having a meal together. Incidentally, the two attendants who always accompanied them were playing with other classmates. They had also blended well into the class atmosphere.
“Hey Sharo, do you think Chrome-san will be at the venue for the upcoming school festival?”
“Well, isn’t he likely to be? After all, he’s a teacher at the Empire’s academy, so he’s probably there.”
“Yeah, you’re right! I’d be so happy to meet him.”
Ruisha’s eyes sparkled as his thoughts wandered to the yet unseen celebrity.
Chrome, the swordsman so renowned, was said to be incredibly strong, on par with the best swordsmen. He would likely be the first name mentioned in discussions about the strongest human on the continent.
Originally raised in the slums, Chrome had risen to the highest position in the Empire solely through his skill with the sword, working as the right-hand man to the emperor. As someone raised in a similar rural village, Ruisha couldn’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie.
“Sigh, I wonder if there’s any way to challenge him somehow…”
“Please, could you not say such dangerous things?”
Ignoring Sharo, who was sweating nervously, Ruisha continued to fantasize about the strongest swordsman.

After finishing their meal on board, Ruisha and Sharo decided to enjoy the breeze and headed out to the deck. Along the way, as they walked through a long corridor, they stumbled upon a scene where three acquaintances were engaged in a conversation.
“Ah, there you are, senpais.”
When Ruisha greeted them, the three seniors raised their hands in response.
“Hey, Ruisha-kun, having a good time? By the way, this magical airship is amazing. Despite flying in the air, you hardly feel any turbulence. The advancement in technology is truly splendid,” cheerfully remarked Regulus, the student council president from the Magic academy. He seemed quite fascinated by the magical airship, his eyes shining with excitement as he glanced around.
“Opportunities to ride on a magical airship are rare, so this is a truly valuable experience. Thanks for selecting me as a representative, Ruisha-kun,” expressed Richard, a third-year student from Class A, offering his gratitude to Ruisha. He had dueled with Ruisha a while back and had been defeated. Though Ruisha emerged victorious, he acknowledged Richard’s exceptional skills among the students and chose him as one of the representatives for this year’s school festival.
The student council president, Regulus, also responded to Ruisha’s nomination and joined the team. By the way, the other student council members were left at the school, filling the gaps in the absence of the president and attending to miscellaneous tasks.
Among the participants in the school festival, in addition to these two upperclassmen, there was only one other student who wasn’t from the Z class.
“Hehe, I hope this will be an enjoyable journey.”
Smiling warmly, Shion Claire, a student from Year 2, Class A, expressed these words.
Wanting to form a representative team with individuals whose abilities he was familiar with, Ruisha approached him to join the event. He had already confirmed his capabilities when they ventured into the dungeon before. His unique magic of creating golems, composed judgment, and the reassurance he provided to the team made him a valuable asset.
“Thank you for taking the time to come despite your busy schedule, Shion-san.”
“It’s fine, Ruisha-kun. I was getting tired of being cooped up in the capital. I’m looking forward to an enjoyable journey.”
Seventeen individuals, comprising the fourteen students from Class Z and three senior students present here, made up the representative members from the Magic academy for the Grand School Festival.
The participation numbers for the Inter-School Festival were set between fifteen to twenty individuals according to the rules. Since the tournament format involved selecting three individuals for each match, having more team members was advantageous. However, instead of including unfamiliar faces, Ruisha chose to build the team with individuals he could trust.
“Well then, we’ll head to the deck. See you on the day of the event.”
Saying this, Ruisha took Sharo’s hand, intending to bid farewell to the three.
Just as they were about to leave, Shion called out to Ruisha.
“If you’re heading to the deck, be cautious. It seems like students other than us are also on this ship.”
“…Understood. We’ll be careful.”
With those words and a nod of his head, Ruisha climbed the stairs, aiming for the deck.
“Hey Sharo, which school do you think they’re from?”
“Well, the Merchant Country has good relations with many nations and regions, so I can’t be sure. But it might not even be from another country.”
“You mean…?”
“Yes, it’s the ‘Fang Hunter Training Academy for Young Beasts’—a super combative academy in the Merchant Country. They had an excellent performance in last year’s tournament, so they’re likely participating again this year.”
Ruisha had heard about that academy before. The academy, dedicated to training the ‘Fang Hunters,’ a unique combat force of the Merchant Country, apparently gathered children from across the continent with exceptional physical abilities.
If the rumors were true, they would undoubtedly be formidable opponents.
“Hehe, I wonder what kind of fighters they are. I’m looking forward to it.”
“Ru, you really love battles.”
“Well, it’s not so much that I love ‘battling!’ I just enjoy watching strong individuals. There are still so many techniques and magic in this world that I don’t know about! Discovering and learning about them is what makes it exciting for me.”
As Ruisha spoke with a sparkle in his eyes, Sharo smiled gently.
(Really, I can’t just stand idly by. To stay by this person’s side, I need to become stronger!)
Sharo made that resolution in her heart.
