Volume 9 Chapter 27 After the first day
On the night after the first day of the Grand Academy Festival, students from the Magic Academy gathered in the dormitory hall.
“Well then, let’s toast to successfully getting through the first day! Cheers!”
“Cheers!”
Following Yuri’s command, the students clinked their glasses together. Then, they swiftly poured the liquid in their glasses and began discussing today’s events and what awaited them tomorrow.
“The opponents today weren’t much. I think we’ll be the winners.”
“More than that, I’m dissatisfied I didn’t get to participate in the matches, Merel. Tomorrow, I’m going to shine!”
“Sure, sure. It’d be nice if you could participate.”
“Is that so!?”
Classmates chatted excitedly as usual, making a lively atmosphere.
While watching them, Yuri leisurely sipped his wine, savoring it.
“You’re in high spirits, Yuri.”
“Hmm? Ah, it’s you, Ruisha.”
Yuri, upon confirming the person addressing him, gestured to the chair placed beside him.
“Take a seat. They’ve prepared some excellent drinks here. How about joining me?”
Not only drinks, but a variety of dishes were arranged on the table. Each dish looked like something served in a proper restaurant, not the usual festival fare.
Ruisha received a glass filled with wine and tasted it. The moment he did, a rich aroma danced through his nostrils. Although not an expert on alcohol, he could tell this was of significant quality.
“This… is amazing. The festival organizers must have arranged all this, right? They’re quite generous.”
“They prepare this much only for the academies that advance to the third round. But even I can’t easily handle stuff of this level. Seems like Sanctria is making quite a profit.”
Yuri said this sarcastically, downing the glass in one go. He wasn’t strong with alcohol, and his cheeks quickly flushed.
“Sanctria is managing much better than the kingdom. Originally, this tournament was mainly for diplomatic venting between nations, but Sanctria cleverly turned it into a successful event, and the country has grown significantly as a result. I’ve roamed around the streets a bit, and the people living here seem content. I… I’m frustrated, Ruisha!”
Saying this, Yuri slammed the table hard.
His gaze was unfocused, and his face was entirely red. He was clearly drunk.
However, Ruisha could sense that the words he was speaking were heartfelt. Though he usually played the role of a sensible prince, deep down, he was a passionate individual who cared greatly for his country.
“Ruisha… I’m gonna do it… Make the country, big…”
Yuri, completely inebriated, mumbled like incoherent whispers and slumped over. If left alone like this, he seemed likely to fall into a deep slumber.
Noticing his condition, Ibuki forcefully tried to wake him up.
“Come on, Prince, why are you sleeping? There’s tomorrow too, so you can’t sleep here. You’re a good boy, let’s go back to your room.”
Taking advantage of Yuri’s hazy consciousness, Ibuki cooed at him like a baby.
In his drowsiness, Yuri lost balance and buried his head in Ibuki’s chest, clinging to him.
“Mm, mmm.”
“Hey, Prince, what are you doing!?”
Startled by the sudden turn of events, Ibuki accidentally tossed his liege onto the ground.
“Kyuu.”
Yuri let out an adorable sound as he completely lost consciousness.
Seeing this, Ibuki scratched the top of his helmet with his index finger, feeling like he messed up.
“Haha, I messed up, huh? Ruisha, let’s keep this as a secret between us.”
“Yeah.”
“I owe you one. Well then, I’ll take the prince back to his room. Enjoy your time, the three of you.”
“Wait, three people?”
The mention of three people caught Ruisha’s attention.
Wondering what it meant, he turned to the table to reach for the food. At that moment, he felt someone plop down on both sides of him and energetically loop their arms around him.
“Hey, Ru! Why aren’t you paying attention to me?”
“Let’s drink together, Ruisha-sama. This is delicious, you know.”
Saying this, Sharo firmly held onto Ruisha’s right arm, while Iris did the same with her left. Ruisha tried to break free, but their grip was too strong for him to escape.
“Both of you, your faces are really red. Have you had a bit too much to drink?”
“Haha, no way! We’re totally fine with just this much.”
Sharo’s slurred speech was quite evident. It was rare to see her, who usually had a high alcohol tolerance, this drunk. Ruisha surmised that she must have really consumed a lot.
“Hehe, Sharo is getting all worked up hearing about the lovely dovey moments between Ruisha-sama and me. You’re such a maiden.”
“Ru! I won’t let you go until you tell me who’s more important, me or Iris!”
Listening to the two, it appeared that Sharo got angry after hearing about Iris and Ruisha’s date and drank too much in response. Iris, enticed by this, also drank a lot and ended up tipsy.
Both of them were usually good at holding their alcohol and knew their limits, so they wouldn’t get drunk like this under normal circumstances.
However, the excitement of the conversation, the festive atmosphere of the school festival, the lingering euphoria of victory, the delightful drinks—all these elements converged, creating this almost chaotic atmosphere.
“Ruisha… I’ll make sure to take care of you…”
Chisha, their classmate, watched over Ruisha from a distance. They kept their distance along with other classmates, fearing they might be caught up in the aftermath. Thanks to this, Ruisha couldn’t ask anyone for help.
“Um, could you let go soon…”
“What’s wrong? Am I bothering you? Saying you can’t keep me company with my drink, Ruisha-sama?”
“No, it’s not like that.”
Ruisha racked his brain, trying to come up with a way to get out of this situation. Suddenly, Iris exclaimed, “Ah!”
“I’ve got it! If you won’t listen to words, then let’s try something physical.”
“Hmph, not a bad idea coming from you, Iris. If it’s a challenge, I won’t lose.”
“That’s my line. I know Ruisha-sama’s body better than anyone else.”
Saying this, they locked eyes and, still holding Ruisha’s arm, stood up. They dragged the resisting Ruisha relentlessly.
“Could you please calm down a bit? Seriously!”
Ruisha still resisted. Seeing him, Sharo sighed and leaned closer to his ear, whispering in a voice only Ruisha could hear.
“I’ll let you know, I’m not that drunk. I’m going to hold you for real, so brace yourself.”
Saying this, she lightly kissed his cheek and pulled away. Ruisha could feel his heart racing at her sincere words and the cool expression she had when she said them.
“It seems you’ve got a little more determination now.”
Saying this, she smiled mischievously and, with a bewildered Ruisha in tow, left the hall, dragging him along.

Volume 9 Chapter 28 Third round
On the second day of the Grand Academy Festival,
Ruisha walked along the athlete’s passage leading to the tournament venue with his friends, Wolf and Burn.
“Ugh, my body aches…”
Ruisha walked while gently tapping his waist, looking tired. Wolf, noticing his condition, voiced his concern.
“Are you okay, Captain? Is it the fatigue from yesterday’s first-round match?”
“No, haha… It’s from last night, just a little…”
Saying this, Ruisha looked up and squinted, appearing somewhat melancholic. Wolf tilted his head, not understanding the meaning of his words, but Burn, comprehending why Ruisha was tired, chuckled and couldn’t help but laugh.
“It seems like you had quite the time, Ruisha. Being a popular guy is tough, huh? I’m quite envious.”
“Hahaha…”
Ruisha continued walking as his back was patted by Burn.
Soon, as they walked through the passage, the three arrived at the first arena. The spectator stands were as crowded as ever, buzzing with excitement, even more so than yesterday.
“You’re getting all fired up. It’s quite exhilarating,” Burn remarked.
“Heh, don’t get carried away, Burn. You’re always so overzealous,” Wolf retorted.
“Oh, shut it. You’re the same type, Wolf. Maybe you should worry about yourself before worrying about me?” Burn shot back.
“Come on, you two, let’s calm down…”
Bantering lightly, the three ascended the stairs and set foot in the arena, where their opponents were already waiting.
“It’s nice to see you’ve made it this far. Shall we continue from where we left off on the ship?” sneered Kruik, a student from the fearsome Academy of Young Fangs.
“Who’s that arrogant guy? Do you know him, Ruisha?” Wolf inquired.
“Yeah. We met on an airship on our way here. He’s from the ‘Fang Hunter,’ a special unit in Blum, a merchant nation that trains warriors to combat large monsters. Their academy is called ‘Academy for Young Fangs,’ Ruisha explained.
“I see, so… they’re strong, right? I’m definitely looking forward to this,” Burn said.
As students from both academies gathered in the center of the arena, the announcer, Pezzo, raised his voice.
“Now! Let’s begin the first match of the third round: Floyd Magic Academy versus Academy for Young Fangs a specialized academy for hunting! Both academies have overwhelmed their opponents and smoothly advanced to the third round with their overwhelming strength! I can’t predict which side will win!”
Following Pezzo’s live commentary, it was true that Young Fangs had secured victories in the first and second rounds without allowing their opponents to make a move. Among the audience, the expectation was high, and some believed they could even clinch the championship.
“Then let’s get this started—match begin!!”
The moment the match began, Kruik swiftly signaled his two companions. Understanding the intent behind the signs, the two students quickly comprehended and sprinted forward.
Gliding across the ground as if on ice, the two students firmly gripped spears crafted from sharpened beast fangs, thrusting them towards Ruisha in a pincer attack.
“Let’s start with one!”
Two spears thrust simultaneously from left and right. This well-coordinated attack was the greatest weapon of Young Fangs.
Even for a keen magical creature, reacting to this synchronized assault was challenging, but Ruisha’s reflexes surpassed those of a magical creature.
“Ha!”
Twisting his body, Ruisha evaded the attack. He then grabbed each of the thrust spears with one hand, left and right.
The panicked opponents tried to pull their spears back towards themselves, but Ruisha’s extraordinary grip strength prevented them.
“Ugh!”
Straining, Ruisha raised his hands and, along with them, lifted the students by the spears.
With force, he brought his arms down, slamming the two students onto the ground.
“――――!?”
Unarticulated cries emanated from the Young Fangs students lying on the ground. Witnessing the unbelievable strength of Ruisha, which defied his slender frame, not only the audience but also the announcer Pezzo gaped in astonishment.
“Well, now it’s become a one-on-one, hasn’t it?”
Saying this, Ruisha turned towards Kruik and assumed a fighting stance.
For the Young Fangs, it was a hopeless situation, yet despite that, Kruik remained remarkably composed.
“So, you think you’ve won by taking down two of my comrades? I’ll tell you, the real hunt begins now…!”
A sense of determination emanated from him, filling the arena.
Sensing the aura of a formidable opponent from Kruik, Ruisha grinned subtly.
“Great. It looks like it’s going to be an interesting battle.”
“Bring it on. I’ll let you taste the feelings of one who’s hunted.”
