Volume 9 Chapter 21 Third Eye
Ruisha and Iris enjoyed the festival openly, unaffected by onlookers.
Approaching the two were individuals who seemed to disrupt their enjoyment.
“…Apologies for interrupting your fun. May we have a moment for a conversation?”
“Huh?”
Upon hearing the voice, they turned to see three men clad in green robes. They wore pointed green hats that concealed much of their expressions.
“You are from the ‘Third Eye,’ aren’t you?”
“Ah, you knew? That’s convenient.”
Ruisha recognized the distinctive green robes. The ‘Third Eye’ was a major magical organization based in Libra, the City of Books, in the southern part of the Kitarika continent. Understanding the essence of magic was their primary objective.
‘The Third Eye, where understanding the essence of magic is paramount.’ Ruisha had heard of this prestigious organization. It was rumored that many renowned magicians, and even demons, were part of it.
The green robes were proof of membership in the Third Eye. Among them, those adorned with gold embellishments wore a special robe, a mark of higher-ranking members within the organization.
“Anyone with a decent understanding of magic knows about the Third Eye. Every wizard dreams of being part of them at least once.”
“It’s an honor to be recognized as such.”
The man said, revealing a slight smile through the gap between his hat and robe.
His two subordinates behind him seemed pleased as well. All three took pride in being part of the Third Eye.
“Is there a reason for three members from the Third Eye to be here?”
“Hehe, I’m sure someone as astute as you can already guess. I’ll be straightforward about the reason for my visit—it’s a recruitment. Your performance in the first round of the battle was truly impressive. You hid it well, but our eyes didn’t miss the immense magical power that lies deep within you. Your marvelous talent in magic is worthy of becoming one of us. Let’s enhance that talent together and delve into the depths of magic!”
The excited man urged Ruisha, his enthusiasm palpable.
In contrast to his fervor, Ruisha wore a cold expression.
(Talent… huh)
Understanding that stating it’s not just talent but hard work here wouldn’t hold any meaning, Ruisha refrained from interjecting, though his enthusiasm waned.
He could easily perceive that their organization was based on a talent-centric ideology. Initially uninterested in responding to the scout, he felt disappointed, realizing that the organization was more antiquated than he had imagined.
“If you become one of us, we promise more substantial support than your current academy. Come.”
Saying this, Ruisha did not take the extended hand.
“…? What’s the matter?”
“I’m sorry, but I have no intention of leaving the magical academy. I’m honored by the invitation, but if you’re scouting, please try elsewhere.”
“W-What…!”
The man, visibly taken aback by the unexpected refusal, stammered.
“Th-this can’t be… rejecting our invitation…”
Muttering to himself, the man stood there for a while, then suddenly glared at Ruisha.
“I have no choice. I didn’t want to resort to this, but I’ll have to be more forceful.”
Saying this, the man extended his right hand and activated magic.
A green light emanated from his outstretched hand, and upon seeing it, Ruisha froze in his tracks.
“Mind control magic, Brain Domination – Hack…! It’s a bit rough, but it’s necessary for delving into the depths of magic. I’ll manipulate your mind a little…”
Saying this, the man smiled and slowly advanced towards Ruisha.

Volume 9 Chapter 22 Nullification
A man slowly approached Ruisha.
Sensing the unusual situation, Iris stood up, intending to confront the man. But at that moment, multiple chains emerged from the ground, binding Iris’s body.
“Ugh… how infuriating…!”
Saying this, Iris glared sharply at the two subordinates behind the man who had cast the mind control magic.
“Sorry, little miss. Just stay still for a moment.”
“His mind control magic is top-notch. It’ll be over soon, so don’t worry.”
Iris exerted her strength to try and tear apart the chains, but the robust chains, made by two people, proved challenging to break.
During this time, the man approached Ruisha and reached out to his unmoving head, emitting a green light from his outstretched hand. The magic would be complete once that light touched his head.
“If you join our organization, your perspective will surely change. Come, let’s reach the depths of magic together…”
With a rapturous expression, the man extended his hand.
However, just as it seemed his hand was about to touch Ruisha’s head, his hand was deflected by none other than Ruisha himself.
“…I’m sorry, but I won’t be joining your ranks. Especially after something like this.”
“Absurd, you were definitely under the mind control magic, weren’t you!?”
Amidst the unexpected turn of events, while the man was flustered, Ruisha approached Iris, grabbing the chains coiled around her body.
Then, with a determined ‘hiyah’, he pulled with all his might. The chains easily tore apart, and Iris was free.
“Are you alright? Not injured?”
“Yes, thank you. I’ll definitely repay this favor.”
“It’s okay, it’s not necessary.”
“No, it’s not that. Please give me any orders, I’ll do anything.”
“Hey, a little too close!”
Despite almost being under mind control, the two casually bantered, drawing the wrath of the man whose prized mind control magic had been undone.
“My magic should have worked perfectly! Why are you unscathed? My constructed spell should have had no leaks… This can’t be… It can’t be!”
“Indeed, your magic was impressive. The magical techniques of the Third Eye seem to have advanced more than I anticipated. However, no matter how advanced the technique, there’s an absolute ‘gap’ between you and me.”
“A ‘gap’? You’re saying there’s a ‘gap’ between a kid like you and me!?”
“Yes, there’s an absolute ‘gap’ in ‘magical power’ between you and me. As you must know, a higher magical power not only increases the potency of magic but also boosts ‘resistance’ to magic. In other words, no matter how skilled you are, your magic won’t affect me if there’s a significant difference in magical power.”
“Nonsense… This has to be some kind of mistake…!”
Hearing this explanation, the man was flabbergasted.
What Ruisha explained was a technique commonly known as ‘magic nullification’ in layman’s terms. Although widely recognized among those knowledgeable about magic, very few among the Human race could actually use it.
“To utilize ‘magic nullification,’ one must possess vast magical power and, of course, a deep understanding of magic. For a teenager, especially a Human, to use it is unheard of. It seems I’ve come to fish for carp and caught a dragon instead.”
The man trembled in astonishment, his face contorting into a sinister grin. Within him resided a sense of joy. He strongly believed that capturing this young boy could bring them closer to the abyss of magic. He became excited, releasing a rush of pleasure-inducing substances in his brain.
“Hehe, this is irresistible… Just think of how much nourishment you’ll provide us if you come with us. We might need to use forceful methods to bring you in.”
“I’m surprised that mind control magic isn’t considered a forceful method. All the more reason not to join such a dangerous organization.”
Ruisha and the man locked eyes, challenging each other.
Cold magical energy emanated from both, clashing and dominating the tension-filled atmosphere.
Breaking this precarious balance was neither Ruisha nor the man but an unexpected individual.
“I sensed an interesting atmosphere and thought I’d come to check it out. It seems things are even more interesting than I imagined.”
Responding to that voice, Ruisha turned in that direction.
Confirming the speaker’s identity, he was genuinely surprised and murmured his name.
“Mr. Chrome… Why are you here…!?”
“Ah, it’s been a day, young man. It appears you’re in quite a crisis.” Chrome Remnant, the strongest swordsman of the Human race and known as the ‘Sword King,’ said with a violent grin, baring his white teeth.
