Volume 9 Chapter 1 Magic Airship
Two weeks after the showdown with the student council, Ruisha and his classmates visited an open area near the royal castle.
“It’s about time. I’m looking forward to it,” Ruisha said, looking up at the sky. It seemed like he was waiting for something.
His classmates were also fidgeting, gazing at the sky. Watching their excitement, Prince Yuri couldn’t help but smile.
“Everyone is clearly excited. It was worth the preparation,” he remarked.
“Oh, come on! Prince, you were excited too! I know, you had trouble falling asleep last night!” exclaimed Ibuki.
“What!? Why are you bringing that up!?”
“Haha, gotcha!”
“You tricked me!!”
As the two of them bantered, Wolf, having spotted something, raised his voice.
“Hey! Isn’t that it!?”
Wolf pointed, and there in the sky was a small black dot.
The dot approached rapidly, gradually revealing its form.
“Amazing! That’s the magic airship!”
Before them descended a flying ship. It was over fifty meters long, with a large, elongated balloon-like structure connected to the ship by chains.
This ship, worthy of the name ‘Magic Airdreadnought,’ was a ‘flying ship’ that floated and navigated the air using magic. It was a recently developed technology, and there were only three of these valuable vessels on this continent.
Using various connections, Yuri had successfully borrowed this ship. He planned to use it to quickly travel to ‘Sanctria,’ the ‘Eternal Neutral Nation,’ where the grand school festival would take place.
“Transporting this many people by carriage would be quite challenging. I’m glad we could persuade them.”
“That’s right, Prince… Plus, we get to learn about what these magic airships are like.”
“Yeah…”
The magic airdreadnought they had borrowed this time was from the trading nation of Blum. The Exadore Kingdom did not possess such vessels.
Not possessing them meant there was almost no information about magic airships. There was too much they didn’t know, details about the mechanics, performance, comfort, and more.
“If a war breaks out in the future, magic airships will undoubtedly be deployed. We should study as much as we can.”
“That’s right. We can’t allow our generation to bring this country to ruin.”
“Of course.”
With this determination, the two of them boarded the magic airdreadnought.

“Welcome aboard, my beloved craft, ‘Skyfort,’ dear students!”
As Ruisha and his companions stepped into the Skyfort and ascended to the deck, a distinguished older man with a magnificent white beard greeted them in this manner.
He appeared to be around sixty years old, slightly shorter than Ruisha, and not incredibly strong in physical prowess, but oddly exuded vitality from his entire being.
“Huh? are you lost, old man?” Ruisha retorted.
“Wh-what?! You, you rascal!”
“What’s the matter, Yuri? Don’t give me that scared look. Did I do something wrong?”
Overwhelmed by Yuri’s stern tone, even the formidable Burn appeared flustered and befuddled.
It seemed this person was quite an influential figure.
“Hehe, it’s alright, Prince Yuri. Children being overly energetic is just perfect.”
“But… still. We owe you for lending us the magic airship. Would you please accept our apologies, Lord Blum?”
Blum. Hearing this name from Yuri’s lips, even Baron quickly realized who the person before them was.
“Could it be that this old man is Blum Lindria, the great merchant who founded the trading nation of Blum?”
“Ho ho, exactly♪”
The name that Burn mentioned was that of an extraordinarily famous figure, even appearing in textbooks.
In just one lifetime, he had built a massive trading company and further collaborated with numerous others to create an entire nation, a remarkable individual.
A person renowned as the greatest merchant on the continent, that was the true identity of the small old man before them, Blum Lindria.
“I-I’m sorry, old man! I never expected you to be such an impressive individual.”
“Then why did you say ‘old man,’ you idiot!”
Yuri smacked Burn’s head for his repeated blunders. In the past, this might not have packed much of a punch, but Yuri had been consistently pushed around by Ruisha, significantly strengthening his muscles. Thanks to this, Burn’s head made a loud thud against the deck due to the force, leaving him spinning and disoriented.
“I-I apologize, Lord Blum. I’ll make sure to reprimand him thoroughly later…”
“I’m telling you, it’s fine. I don’t really care about this kind of thing.”
Saying so, Blum, seeming genuinely disinterested, shifted his gaze from the desperately bowing Yuri to Ruisha.
“More importantly… I’m interested in you. You.The student from the magic academy who’s been making quite a stir lately right?”
Upon hearing that, Yuri’s heart sank.
Indeed, Ruisha had been the center of attention for various reasons. Defeating the A-class students, annihilating a band of thieves, obliterating the invading demons in the royal capital, the list went on and on.
However, Yuri had worked hard to tightly control this information, so very little of it had actually leaked beyond the borders.
But it seemed all these subterfuges were utterly meaningless in the eyes of the elderly man before them.
“Do you know about me?”
“A little, yes. Hm, you’re not as ordinary as I thought. If that’s the case, it’s not innate, it must have been developed later. But your eyes are straightforward, without arrogance. Perhaps you were raised by a good mentor.”
While mumbling to himself, Blum thoroughly observed Ruisha from head to toe.
Being looked at like that made Ruisha a little embarrassed.
“Um, why are you staring at me so intently?”
“Oh, I apologize. Due to my profession, I tend to observe people immediately. I’m sorry to say this, but you’re welcome to use the facilities of this magic airship as you please. We have a restaurant, a library, and even a pool on board. The two days until our arrival should not be boring.”
Upon hearing this, their classmates were thrilled. They hadn’t expected to enjoy entertainment in the sky.
Seeing their excitement, Blum smiled and left the scene. He whispered to Yuri discreetly.
“Prince, it’s good to take it easy. Rest well… and study the magic airship carefully.”
“…!!”
Yuri felt goosebumps all over his body at the remark that seemed to penetrate to the depths of his heart.
However, he didn’t show any of that on his face. As someone who would eventually bear the burden of the country, he couldn’t afford to show weakness.
“Well, indeed, since we have this opportunity, I’ll observe carefully. After all, should a crisis arise in the kingdom, we may need your assistance.”
Of course, this was a bluff.
While the kingdom and the trading nation did have a good relationship, it was purely because their interests aligned.
Traders were creatures who prioritized their interests above all else. If it were deemed unfavorable to side with the kingdom, they would cut ties mercilessly.
Yuri understood this well and made a sarcastic remark.
“…That little prince has grown up. I’m sure Floyd is quite pleased with himself.”
Feeling a glimpse of the young King Floyd in Yuri’s expression, Blum slightly loosened his cheeks and walked away.
