Volume 8 Chapter 11 Magic tool
Right at the beginning of the game of tag,
Without immediately searching for the student council president, Ruisha approached Yuki, the secretary of the student council.
“Excuse me, I have something I’d like to ask.”
“What is it? I’m afraid I won’t leak any information that would disadvantage the president.”
“Oh no, I’m not thinking anything like that.”
With a chuckle, Ruisha discreetly took out a small crystal from his pocket. It was a roughly five-centimeter angular blue crystal. The crystal had a low level of transparency, so its quality was not high. Such crystals could be acquired inexpensively at stores.
Ruisha discreetly clenched it, channeling his magic while continuing to question Yuki.
“I understand that you’re keeping track of the time. How do you convey that to the president once the time limit is up?”
“When the time limit is reached, I will announce the end in a loud voice. ‘Kaicho! Where are you? It’s over!’ like that.”
“I see.”
Saying so, Ruisha grinned wickedly.
Displaying a smile of confidence in his impending victory, Yuki felt an indescribable sense of unease.
“Thank you, Yuki-san. Thanks to you, it seems like I can win this match.”
“You… What exactly do you intend to do?”
To a trembling Yuki, Ruisha showed the crystal in his hand.
And then, he channeled magic into the crystal and demonstrated its function.
“Kaicho! Where are you? It’s over!”
The voice that came from the crystal was exactly Yuki’s voice from before. Not just the lines, but the pronunciation and pitch—it was an identical reproduction of Yuki’s voice.
“W-What is this…!?”
“This is a ‘Recording Crystal,’ capable of recording and playing back sound.”
“I’ve never heard of something like this!?”
In where Ruisha lives, there were phonographs and records. However, the technology to record sound using magic had not been established.
But the magical genius, the Demon King Testarossa, casually perfected this technology in the Infinite Prison.
Riusha had been taught some manufacturing methods for the magical devices she invented, known as ‘magical tools.’ This recording crystal was one of them. With just one crystal, you could make it in a matter of minutes—an excellent invention.
“It converts the sounds that enter your ears into magic and records them in the crystal. It might sound complicated when put into words, but anyone who can use magic even a bit can easily use it. I plan to put it up for sale in shops soon, so feel free to buy one.”
“G-Grrr…”
Yuki pouted in frustration.
She had fallen right into Ruisha’s trap and had her voice recorded.
“However, just recording my voice won’t fool the president! No matter how much my voice is played, if I’m not there, the president won’t show up!”
“Of course, I don’t think this recording crystal alone can capture the president.” Ruisha reassured, studying Yuki’s face while activating his magic.
“Alteration Forze!”
The moment the magic incantation was spoken, poof! Smoke enveloped Ruisha. As the smoke cleared… Ruisha’s face had transformed to look exactly like Yuki’s.
“What do you think? I managed to transform properly, didn’t I?”
“Ah, umm…”
Yuki was so shocked that she could barely even move her mouth to speak.
The magic Ruisha had used was indeed quite unusual, stunning not only Yuki but also the other members of the student council, including Sharo.
“That magic, isn’t that Pardio’s? When did you become able to use it?”
“Hehe, it was quite challenging, but I finally became able to use it last week. I can only mimic the face for now, can’t copy the body shape or the voice. Well, Yuki-san and I are about the same height, so I don’t think I’ll be found out.”
With a smug look, Ruisha, now with Yuki’s face, tightened his grip on the crystal and began to walk. There were only six minutes left, and there was not much time to spare.
“Now, it’s my turn!”
With that declaration, Ruisha, now resembling Yuki, dashed off with determination.

Volume 8 Chapter 12 Water Prison
Shift back to the present.
Locked inside the barrier magic ‘Black Cage,’ the student council president, Regulus, surprisingly remained calm.
(There’s only a little time left; I must find a way to escape!)
In reality, there was less than two minutes left. Despite being confined, the range of the Black Cage was extensive, giving Regulus the confidence to escape even in this situation.
“I’ll catch you…!”
“Give it a try!”
Saying so, Regulus slammed a smoke bomb to the ground, his trump card. Instantly, the smoke filled the Black Cage, and Ruisha’s vision turned completely white.
The smoke bomb Regulus used was a kind of magical device, inhibiting not only vision but also hearing and smell. Ruisha immediately dispelled the smoke with wind magic, but the effects lingered for a bit.
Furthermore, Regulus had used perception-inhibiting magic simultaneously with the smoke bomb, making his presence once again undetectable. Even though the effects of the smoke lingered, not being able to see his form made it impossible to search for him… or so it seemed.
“Your perseverance till the end is truly admirable. However, it’s not like I didn’t have a plan,” he said.
At first glance, the current situation seemed to have returned to the initial state, but there was an obvious difference compared to the beginning.
That difference was that Regulus was always inside the black cage. Ruisha maximized the use of this situation.
“Giant Water Sphere, Radiya Ward!”
As he chanted the spell, a sphere of water appeared in front of Ruisha. The sphere rapidly expanded, filling the black cage within a matter of seconds.
Naturally, humans couldn’t breathe inside the water. Typically.
“Bubbling, bububu, buboobai (Qigong breathing technique, Qigong gills).”
However, Ruisha had mastered a Qigong technique that allowed him to breathe like a fish even underwater. Thanks to this, he could remain calm and observe his surroundings even in this situation.
And there, a bit away from him, he noticed bubbles coming out. No doubt about it, Regulus was there.
“I won’t let you escape!”
Ruisha emitted magical force from his feet and swiftly moved underwater towards the spot where the bubbles were emerging.
With the momentum, he swung his hand towards the spot where he believed Regulus was.
“Bubo…!”
Ruisha’s palm hit Regulus cheek accurately. Startled and already struggling to breathe, Regulus took the full force of the blow. He spun around in the water, disoriented, and with a loud splash, he collided with the black cage.
“Baba, babi bube bababo… (Oh no, I might have gone too far…)”
Inadvertently, Ruisha realized he had hit him quite hard and, reflecting on this, he dispelled the magic, causing the black cage and the water sphere to disappear.
Then, he rushed towards Regulus, whom he had hit quite hard.
“Um, are you okay?”
“Heh… it was a good hit…”
Despite his face being swollen from the impact, Regulus maintained a composed demeanor.
His knees were trembling, indicating his body was reaching its limits. However, he desperately continued to put on a brave front, perhaps due to the pride of being the student council president.
“Well done, Ruisha-kun. I acknowledge you as a member of the student council…uh…”
With those words as his last, Regulus collapsed with a thud. Even though it was a short period, using magic while continuously running took its toll. On top of that, he was smacked hard by Ruisha, so it was no wonder he ended up like this.
Looking triumphant, Ruisha muttered to the now unconscious Regulus.
“Well, I never intended to join the student council anyway…”
