Volume 8 Chapter 1 Usual morning scenery
The dawn breaks early in Ruisha.
Waking up with the sunrise, he swiftly jumps out of the dormitory to begin his daily training routine.
First, he undergoes intensive training to increase his magical power, expending the magic replenished during sleep. By doing so, the maximum magical capacity increases slightly with each recovery of magic. Although the increase per session is not significant, the cumulative growth over consistent daily practice becomes formidable.
Qigong training, similar to magic, also improves by using it to the fullest, so he doesn’t neglect that aspect of training either.
Ruisha has not missed this regimen since leaving the Infinite Prison.
After depleting both forms of power, he goes for a run in the capital city.
The morning in the royal capital is cool and refreshing, perfect for running. It’s an excellent training to relieve stress and build stamina. Recently, he has been leaving a little magic and applying a gravity spell on himself while running.
Thanks to this, his stamina and leg strength have been steadily improving.
“Oh! boy, you’re full of energy today! Want an apple?”
“You’re energetic from the morning. Come to our cafe next time, I’ll treat you!”
While running through the city, he’s greeted by people setting up their shops or taking a stroll. Ruisha, who runs at this time every day, is already recognized by the city’s residents.
Seeing the efforts of the adorable young boy, they can’t help but cheer for him. The city residents, who have been watching him run diligently every day, have taken a liking to Ruisha.
“Haha, I received various things again today.”
The city residents share edible items with Ruisha. By the time he returns to the dormitory, his hands are full of gifts from the generous people.
“‘I’m home…’”
“‘Welcome back, Ruisha-sama.’”
After taking a shower at the dormitory and returning to his room, Ruisha is greeted by Iris, the maid vampire, who is preparing breakfast. Today’s breakfast is a sandwich made with plenty of fresh vegetables. She provides a menu every morning, carefully considering the balance of nutrition and taste.
At first, Ruisha felt apologetic and declined her offer, but she insisted every morning, so he finally gave in.
“Mmm, it’s delicious again today!”
“Hehe, I’m glad.”
Iris blushes with joy at the genuine compliment.
The sensation of something she made entering the body of the person she loves and becoming a part of him is truly gratifying. Iris had truly become quite unconventional.
Ruisha, unaware of this, quickly finishes breakfast, changes into his uniform, and Iris cleans up in the meantime.
“Iris, what do we have planned for today?”
“We have theoretical studies in the morning and potion-making practicals in the afternoon.”
“Ah, I remember now. Did you come across any interesting materials that could be used?”
“In that case, how about the rare blood of a vampire?”
“…Iris, you sometimes say things that I can’t tell if you’re joking or being serious.”
As they engage in light conversation, the two of them leave the dormitory.
Outside, two students were waiting for them.
“Good morning! …Why is Iris here already? You sneaked in again, didn’t you?”
“Good morning, Captain. Shall I carry your bag?”
“Good morning, both of you. I can handle my bag, no worries.”
Sharo and Wolf welcomed Ruisha.
The distance from the dormitory to the classroom was short, about a ten-minute walk, and the four of them always went to school together.
“Sneaking into Ru’s room in the morning is definitely an annoyance. Don’t you have any common sense?”
“Assisting in the morning is my important duty. Even Sharo shouldn’t have the right to interfere with that.”
“Argh! Come on, Ru, say something to her!”
“Haha, you two have really become good friends.”
“In my opinion, the captain who can make such a statement after witnessing this is truly exceptional….”
It was a lively scene during their morning commute. Ruisha loved this time.

Volume 8 Chapter 2 Duel
The Four of them, friendly as can be, head to school together.
Just then, a male student appeared, seemingly blocking their path.
With short, softly curled brown hair and a height slightly taller than Ruisha, he appeared a bit more mature than the rest. His appearance suggested he was an upperclassman, surpassing Ruisha and his friends in that regard.
“Sorry to interrupt your lively conversation. I’m Richard from Class 3A. Can’t you guess the reason for my visit?”
“…Understood. I accept.”
Saying this, Ruisha handed his bag to Wolf and stepped forward, facing Richard.
“My apologies for this early morning.”
“No need to apologize. In fact, I’m delighted, these encounters have been rare lately.”
“Really? You have a way with words. This should be exciting…!”
With those words, Richard tossed his gloves at Ruisha’s feet, and he picked them up without hesitation. The duel was now agreed upon.
Since his enrollment, Ruisha had been challenged to duels numerous times. Initially, it was mostly eager first-year students looking to make a name for themselves, challenging him up to ten times in a single day. However, as a month passed since his enrollment, his same-grade peers, realizing the gap in their abilities, grew quieter. In their place, upperclassmen began challenging him. Ruisha meticulously defeated each of them one by one, until even the upperclassmen hesitated to challenge him.
Yet, four months into his enrollment, challengers like this one still occasionally appeared. These challengers were different from the reckless students before, understanding Ruisha’s capabilities and challenging him with a clear comprehension of his strength, ranking among the top students in the magic academy.
“Hey! Ruisha is going to duel!”
“Seriously? It’s been two weeks, hasn’t it!?”
As the duel was agreed upon, curious students gathered one after another, surrounding Ruisha and Richard.
The rare duel featuring Ruisha had the students excited, turning the atmosphere into a festive one.
“Geez, I thought it was noisy, and it’s Ruisha… I thought things had quieted down lately.”
The one who spoke in a somewhat exasperated manner was Ruisha’s homeroom teacher, Regas.
It seemed he had been brought here by the students to act as a witness.
“Oh, good morning, sensei. Please take care of us today too.”
“Good morning, Ruisha. Ah, and the opponent is… Richard, right? It’s unusual for you, who is usually quiet, to initiate a duel.”
Regas had an image of Richard as a well-behaved, exemplary student.
It was hard to imagine him challenging a lower-grade student to a duel.
“Haha, I didn’t think of it that way… But, if we let the first-years have their way to this extent, it diminishes the dignity of the upperclassmen, don’t you think? I’ll show them the pride of us upperclassmen.”
Saying so, Richard assumed a stance.
His expression was completely serious, and in response, Ruisha readied his fists with equal determination.
“Are both of you ready?”
“Yes.”
“Yes, indeed.”
Regas, nodding at their replies, swung down his raised right arm.
At that signal, they moved—no, it would be more accurate to say they vanished. The one who took action was Ruisha.
He approached Richard with a speed that seemed as if he had suddenly disappeared from that spot, using a technique called ‘Shrink Ground,’ a Qi-powered movement technique. It involved detonating the accumulated Qi under his feet to achieve super-acceleration.
“――Shi!”
While maintaining that speed, he delivered a lethal knee strike to Richard’s body.
It was Ruisha’s lethal move, so fast that an average person wouldn’t even comprehend what had happened. In fact, the onlookers couldn’t grasp what was happening right before their eyes.
However, today’s opponent was a bit different.
“Gu…! You’re indeed strong!”
Despite being thrown back about five meters from the impact, Richard had crossed his arms to defend against Ruisha’s knee strike. Naturally, his arms were solidified with magic, so while it was a searing pain, his bones were not broken, allowing him to continue the fight.
“Now it’s my turn. Flame Hand Array, a hundred-fire barrage!”
As Richard chanted the spell, a hundred flaming orbs materialized above his head.
Creating and controlling that many spells at once demonstrated his exceptionally high magical prowess.
Learning that such a skilled individual was still present in the academy filled Ruisha with joy, and he let out a smile.
“Ah, today is turning out to be a good day.”
“I wonder how long you can keep up this composure.”
With that remark, Richard released all the created fireballs, showering them down upon Ruisha.
