Volume 7 Chapter 72 Summon
“Captain, was it really a good idea for you to tell me such an incredible story?”
As they walked from the royal palace towards the dormitories of the magic academy, Wolf posed this question to Ruisha.
It was late into the night, and the streets were deserted as Wolf, Ruisha, and Iris walked. Sharo had apparently gone home ahead of them.
“Well it’s fine Wolf, because you would help me, right? So sooner or later, you would find out. I thought it was a good opportunity. I trust Wolf not to let it slip to anyone.”
“Oh, to think you’d trust even someone like me…!!”
Covering his eyes with his arm, Wolf began to sob loudly.
Though the streets were mostly empty, witnessing him cry in the middle of the city, Ruisha and Iris couldn’t help but smile.
“Anyway, regarding Sharo… What will you do, Ruisha-sama? We can’t just leave it as it is, can we?”
“Yeah, I know… We need to somehow find a way to calm down and talk.”
Ruisha thought about his classmate with peach-colored hair, who looked great with it, while his stomach churned painfully.
Initially, he had approached her to learn about the Hero Orger, but now she was one of Ruisha’s important people. He was willing to risk his life gladly for her sake.
That’s why leaving things ambiguous and growing distant was unbearable for Ruisha.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make things right by the time we meet again at the next school gathering.”
Upon Ruisha’s words, the two quietly chuckled and nodded.
They knew that Ruisha would always follow through on his promise.
“I’m counting on you, Captain. I’m afraid of the sulking big sister.”
“Yes, it’s true. We became friends, and I don’t want to grow distant again.”
“Haha, I’ll do my best…”
To meet the expectations of the two, Ruisha went back to the dormitory, desperately thinking about how to reconcile.
◇
The hour when the moon reigns over the night.
Ruisha, who had parted ways with Wolf and Iris, returned alone to his room.
“I’m back!”
He uttered these words without addressing anyone and opened the door, stepping inside.
At that moment, a rush of cold air brushed gently against Ruisha’s body from the wide-open window in the room.
“Huh?”
As Ruisha left the room, he was certain he had closed the window. Despite this, the window in his room was wide open.
“Who could have done this?”
Cautiously, Ruisha entered the room.
At first glance, there were no signs of a break-in. He enhanced his senses with Qi, trying to detect any unfamiliar scents, but he couldn’t perceive the scent of a stranger.
“Hmm, what’s this?”
After searching the room for a while, Ruisha noticed a piece of paper on the desk. Wary of a trap, he first sniffed the paper to identify its scent. The paper emitted a familiar, pleasant fragrance, reminiscent of a flower.
“This scent…!”
The paper only had the words “Waiting on the rooftop.”
Seeing this, Ruisha quickly left through the window and scaled the walls of the dormitory without hesitation.
Qi-imbued walking technique, ‘Grip of the Earth.’ This technique involved using Qi around the soles of the feet to grip the ground. It allowed one to walk unfazed on difficult terrains like frozen ground and even climb walls.
Empowered by this technique, Ruisha swiftly ascended to the dormitory rooftop and found the person waiting for him there.
“…Sorry for the wait.”
In response to Ruisha’s voice, the individual turned around, their peach-colored hair swaying. With a determined gaze, Sharo, opened her mouth.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Ruisha. Shall we talk about our future?”

“I was waiting.”
Sharo’s face bore a remarkably serene expression, devoid of any signs of anger.
To be honest, Ruisha had no clue about what Sharo was feeling. Was she seething with anger deep down, or was she ready to sever their ties? Did she perceive Ruisha as a complete enemy, or perhaps had she forgiven him?
Whatever feelings she harbored, Ruisha had resolved to accept them.
“…”
However, Ruisha could only gaze intently into Sharo’s eyes, unable to utter a word.
Inside his head, two conflicting emotions collided. The guilt and shame of deceiving Sharo, and the fear of possibly parting ways with her. Despite all the determination, Ruisha was terrified of opposing Sharo.
Sharo’s presence had become so significant and absolute within him that he couldn’t suppress these feelings.
“Why the gloomy face? You’re making it seem like I’m the villain here.”
Seeing Ruisha’s despondent expression, Sharo couldn’t bear it and spoke up, but Ruisha could only murmur, “I’m sorry,” and remained silent thereafter.
Observing this, Sharo sighed briefly and moved to the edge of the rooftop. There, she squatted down, dangling her legs over the rooftop’s edge.
“Come on, you too, sit over here,” she said, patting the spot next to her.
Ruisha, a little bewildered, did as Sharo said and settled down next to her.
In front of the two of them lay the vast cityscape of the capital illuminated by the moonlight. The city had a mystical charm, lit by the moon, captivating and entrancing, making it hard to look away.
While gazing at this sight, Sharo began to speak.
“After hearing Ru’s story, no, while listening to it, I’ve been contemplating. What should I do?”
Ruisha turned his face towards Sharo upon hearing these words.
“Considering my position as a descendant of a hero, I can’t agree with what you’re trying to do. Reviving the Demon King and the Dragon King, sealed away by our ancestors, is something that should never happen.”
“Yeah, I understand…”
Ruisha felt disheartened upon hearing Sharo’s words.
What Sharo said was entirely reasonable, leaving no room for rebuttal.
Ruisha knew that the Demon King and the Dragon King were good-hearted individuals, but among the humans, they were passed down as extremely wicked characters.
As a descendant of a hero and a candidate for a new hero, she could not condone reviving them.
However… what came out of her mouth was an unexpected statement.
“Yeah, normally, that should be the case… but if I had to weigh my unfamiliar ancestors against you, Ru would win.”
“Huh?”
Sharo’s unexpected words made Ruisha widen his eyes in surprise. On the other hand, Sharo, feeling a bit bashful, scratched her head with a slight blush.
“I have no doubt that my ancestor, the great hero Orger, was an incredible individual. I don’t question that. But… I’ve never met him directly. So, I choose to believe in Ru, whom I think I can trust.”
Saying this, Sharo directed a determined, intense gaze at Ruisha.
Feeling the intensity and brilliance of that gaze, Ruisha instinctively felt like averting his eyes.
“But wouldn’t that be risky? If it’s known that Sharo, a descendant of a hero, is siding with the Demon King and the Dragon King?”
“If it’s known, we’ll deal with it then. Well, things have a way of working out.”
Saying so, Sharo stood up and stretched with a “Hmm.”
There was no more hesitation in her expression, appearing and disappearing amidst her peach-colored hair fluttering in the night breeze.
“Why… why do you trust me so much? We’ve only just met.”
Hearing Ruisha’s hesitant words, Sharo chuckled and, crouching on the spot, peered into Ruisha’s face with a shy smile.
“Idiot, it’s obvious because you I like you.”
“――――!!”
Sharo’s unexpected words turned Ruisha’s face bright red, and he involuntarily averted his eyes and looked down. He never thought he was so loved. It was embarrassing not to have realized that.
Ruisha, a mix of embarrassment and happiness, had tears welling up in his eyes. Sharo being there as his companion made him incredibly happy and reassured him.
Sharo, sitting right beside Ruisha, who remained crouched with shaking shoulders, gently placed a hand on his shoulder.
“That’s why it’s okay, no matter what happens, I’m on your side.”
“…Yeah”
Until the night turned into day and the sun illuminated them both, they sat there, affirming each other’s warmth.
