Volume 7 Chapter 70 Time to speak
“First of all, thank you all for gathering.”
Ruisha spoke these words and looked over the people sitting around the round table in front of him.
To his left were Sharo, Wolf, Ibuki, Yuri, King Floyd, Knight Captain Eckel, Portoferino, and Iris, seated in a circular arrangement.
After finishing their meal, they took a break and then gathered in this room.
It was a simple room with only a round table placed in the center. This room was primarily used for confidential discussions where eavesdropping was not allowed.
“The blue crystal in the center of the table is a magical item that has the power to inhibit any scrying magic and eavesdropping. You can relax.”
“We can’t sense any suspicious presence within the castle, so we should be safe. Please, let us hear what you have to say, young one.”
In response to Yuri and Portoferino’s words, Ruisha nodded.
After taking a gulp and summoning his courage, Ruisha began to speak.
He talked about the Demon King, the Dragon King, the Hero, and what he was planning to do.
In truth, Ruisha had wanted to help Testarossa and Rio on his own without involving anyone else. However, given the recent events, he realized it was impossible to keep it a secret and decided to confide in trustworthy individuals.
Especially not telling Sharo for so long weighed heavily on Ruisha’s conscience.
Ruisha carefully chose his words to ensure there was no misunderstanding.
After about thirty minutes into his narration, Ruisha finally concluded his story. The listeners wore faces of disbelief, as if struggling to fathom what they had just heard in this heavy atmosphere.
The first to break the silence was King Floyd.
“…To think the Demon King and the Dragon King are alive, it’s truly unbelievable. If this story is true, it would cause an uproar that would shake the world.”
“It’s not unreasonable to find it unbelievable. However, what I’ve told you is the unvarnished truth. I don’t have any proof to offer, though.”
“Unbelievable, indeed, but for now, I believe you. If what you’ve said is true, it would explain various phenomena.”
“I see, thank you.”
Ruisha deeply nodded to King Floyd, then turned his attention to Portoferino, the Prime Minister of the Demon Kingdom.
” Portoferino-san, I’m sorry, but I have a duty to save Tes-nee. That’s why I can’t go to the Demon Kingdom and succeed the Demon King.”
Ruisha said this apologetically.
Hoping that Portoferino might back down somehow, he prayed silently. However, Portoferino suddenly burst into laughter.
“I see… I understand, young one.”
“Really?”
“Yes, so basically… after reviving Testarossa-sama, we’ll aim to prosper the Demon Kingdom swiftly with a dual reign of you and Testarossa-sama as Demon Kings, making it the strongest nation!!”
“Uh, well…”
Ruisha was taken aback by Portoferino’s unexpected reaction.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, he attempted to correct the misunderstanding. However, Portoferino’s response was beyond what he had anticipated, and he seemed immersed in his own thoughts, not paying any attention to Ruisha’s attempts to clarify.
“Ah, well, it looks like I’ll manage without going to the Demon Kingdom for a while. That’s fine,” Ruisha concluded.
Next, he turned his attention to Sharo, wondering what her reaction would be upon hearing the story. Ruisha couldn’t quite imagine how she would take it.
In the story Ruisha recounted, the ancestor of Sharo, the hero Orger, was depicted as a villain. Considering Sharo’s deep respect and aspiration for Orger, Ruisha’s story might be hard for her to accept.
As Ruisha peeked at Sharo’s face, her expression seemed serious, neither angry nor sad, but lost in thought, contemplating something.
“Sharo…?”
Ruisha called out, and Sharo slowly turned her gaze toward him.
“Um, well…”
“…”
Not knowing how to approach her, Ruisha stumbled over his words. Sharo stood up silently, walked toward the door, and left the room without saying a word.
“……..”
An abrupt silence fell over the room.
The silence weighed heavily on Ruisha’s chest.
“Well then… shall we call it a day for now?” Yuri suggested, unable to bear the silence.
With this lifeline thrown in, the discussion of this secret came to a temporary close.

Volume 7 Chapter 71 King
The conversation ended, and one by one, the people in the room started leaving.
Five remained, not going outside. They were King Floyd, his son Yuri, and the two guards, Eckel and Ibuki, along with the Demon Kingdom Prime Minister, Portoferino.
“Hehe, it was an enjoyable discussion, King Floyd. Well then, as I’ve completed all my objectives, I shall take my leave to return to the Demon Kingdom,” Portoferino said this and stood up gracefully, bowing respectfully to King Floyd.
“You’re leaving so soon? You’re welcome to stay and take your time,” King Floyd replied.
“I left various tasks pending, you see. My subordinates are probably in distress by now. Besides, I need to make various preparations for the young one,” Portoferino explained.
“The young one. If I may be so bold, Lord Portoferino, what are your intentions towards him? Depending on your response, I may not overlook it,” King Floyd asked, his brows furrowed, showing a reaction to the mention of Ruisha.
In ordinary circumstances, anyone would tremble under the intensity of King Floyd’s gaze. He confronted Portoferino with such vigor.
Yuri, standing beside them, was awe-struck, witnessing his father like this for the first time.
However, their interlocutor was no ordinary being. He had been a monster at the political core of the Demon Kingdom for centuries. The intensity in King Floyd’s words meant nothing to him.
“Kuku, the young one is the one destined to carry the Demon Kingdom’s future. It’s about securing that foundation. If a human stands at the top, opposition from the populace is inevitable. We must first decide how to resolve that,” Portoferino remarked.
“I apologize for interrupting this lively discussion, but I haven’t seen any inclination from him, young Ruisha, desiring such a role. And I believe you are not unaware of that. If you intend to proceed without respecting his wishes, I will stand by him. As a benefactor of this country and a righteous citizen of our land,” King Floyd firmly stated.
So resolute were King Floyd’s words that Yuri couldn’t help but hold great respect for his father, bravely confronting Portoferino, regardless of the opponent.
On the other hand, Portoferino, with a sadistic grin in stark contrast to King Floyd’s serious face, retorted, “It’s fine to be lively, but it would be best if you understood your position a little more. One without the royal insignia cannot truly be called a king, merely a pseudo-king. Remember, only humans, a rather laughable king, are recognized.”
As Portoferino pointed out, in essence, a ‘king’ was someone who possessed the royal insignia. However, among humans, a custom had somehow formed to refer to the ruler of a nation as ‘king’, regardless of whether they possessed the insignia or not. No matter how weak, lacking popularity or strategic prowess, if they ascended to the throne, they were called a king.
However, for demons, beastfolk, and other demihuman races, one couldn’t be a king without possessing the royal insignia.
Obtaining the royal insignia was a testament to one’s strength and charisma, making it clear just how powerful and influential the individual was.
“Indeed, I lack the royal insignia. Nevertheless, I can still protect and lead this country. After all, I have capable subordinates,” King Floyd affirmed.
“Certainly, for a human-dominated nation, this country is doing quite well. But how long will that last? Especially with the recent rise in dangerous incidents,” Portoferino commented.
At Portoferino’s words, King Floyd’s expression clouded slightly. Indeed, not only in the kingdom but also in various nations, strange incidents had been occurring frequently. Although strict information control was in place to prevent the public from becoming frightened and taking misguided actions, it seemed the person before them was quite perceptive.
“As the young one seems to have taken a liking to this country, I won’t pose a threat from my end. However, if I judge this country to be unsafe, I will forcibly take the young one away,” Portoferino coldly declared before bowing and leaving the room.
“Hoo, indeed, that was quite chilling,” King Floyd said, taking a deep breath and drinking cold water almost as if he were downing it.
Although he was acting resolute, the tension had left his throat parched.
“Kuku, truly a monster. How about it, Eckel? Can you defeat that fellow?” King Floyd inquired.
“…If it’s about restraining, I can manage, but defeating would be impossible. Most likely, he possesses the royal insignia. As a knight with the insignia, I wouldn’t be a match,” Eckel replied.
“I see… The difference in strength with the Demon Kingdom is clear. We need to quickly reinforce our forces,” King Floyd concluded.
“Yes.”
Interrupting the conversation with Eckel at that point, King Floyd turned his attention to his son, Yuri.
“Are you alright, Yuri? You look quite pale.”
“Oh, yes, I, um, I’m fine, father. Yes.”
Yuri turned towards his father while trying to conceal his pale face.
“Listen, when you become king, you’ll have to face creatures like that. You’ll need to get used to it sooner rather than later.”
“Yes, I’ll strive to improve.”
Feeling the substantial gap between himself and his father, Yuri made this vow.
