Volume 7 Chapter 66 Confluence
Afterwards, Ruisha and the others carried the injured to the royal castle.
Fortunately, everyone was unharmed, and Sharo and Iris only needed minor treatment. The castle’s physician assured Iris that her two vampire companions would recover in two or three days of rest.
Ruisha’s classmates were tired but had no major injuries. Like Ruisha, they were gathered in a room in the royal castle and were relieved to reunite with him.
“Captain! Well done! We’ve heard about your exploits!”
Wolf, the first to rush to Ruisha as he entered the room, spoke excitedly. His tail wagged energetically from side to side, clearly delighted to see him.
“Wolf, well done to you too. Looks like you gave it your all. And everyone, I couldn’t have handled this incident on my own.”
Saying this, Ruisha looked at his classmates, who were seated wearily on what seemed to be a luxurious sofa in the room.
Wolf had found the demons disguising as a human, Chisha, Burn, and Kazaha had noticed the barrier surrounding the castle and found the prince. Yuri and Ibuki had infiltrated the castle and informed the king of the crisis.
Had any one of them been missing, complete victory would have been impossible. Ruisha, fully aware of this, lowered his head in gratitude to his dependable classmates.
“Hey, Ruisha, what are you bowing for? You were the one who contributed the most, right?”
“Yeah, that’s right. The ones to blame are those demons.”
Chisha chimed in, echoing Burn’s words.
In a scene reminiscent of their usual classroom banter, Ruisha couldn’t help but chuckle.
As they chatted in this light-hearted manner, the door creaked open, and two individuals walked in.
“It seems you’re all in high spirits. I’m truly impressed by your vigor,” said Yuri, the prince, as he entered. His attendant, Ibuki, was right behind him as always.
“Oh come on, Prince, you’re not fooling anyone. Deep down, you’re relieved that everyone’s safe,” Ibuki teased.
“Your words are a bit much, Ibuki. When did I ever say such a thing?”
“Hehe, I can see right through you, Prince. How many years do you think we’ve spent together?”
Yuri seemed both irritated and embarrassed by Ibuki’s remarks. However, he couldn’t help but burst into laughter, completely unaffected.
Giving up on scolding him as he watched him laugh, Yuri turned toward Ruisha and the others. “Well then,” he said, prefacing his words, “First of all, thank you. Thanks to all of you, this capital was saved. As the prince of this country, allow me to express my gratitude.”
Saying this, Yuri bowed deeply.
Observing his demeanor, Ruisha’s classmates rubbed their noses in embarrassment and laughed.
“And sorry for bothering you when you’re tired, but I’d like you all to come to the grand hall now. My father has something to discuss with everyone.”
“By ‘Yuri’s father,’ you mean… the king!? Hey, hey, are we really okay with that!?”
Burn’s words were met with nods of agreement from the other classmates. Meeting the king face-to-face was a rare occurrence and a great honor.
Ruisha’s classmates were in a flurry at this sudden turn of events. Amidst this, Wolf, the beastman, had a slightly complex expression.
“Wolf? What’s the matter?”
“Ah, sorry, Captain. I was just lost in thought for a moment.”
“That’s fine, but… if you don’t want to go, I can talk to them on your behalf?”
Wolf was a beastman and had faced discrimination within the kingdom multiple times. Even if the current king was against discrimination, his feelings were likely complicated. Understanding this, Ruisha expressed his concern for him, offering to speak on his behalf. However, he declined his offer.
“Thanks, Captain, but I’ll be okay. I’ve already decided not to run away.”
In his eyes, there was a strong sense of determination. Sensing this, Ruisha simply said, “I see,” and concluded the conversation.
Feeling reassured that there was no need to worry anymore, Ruisha gently patted Wolf’s back and left the room.

Volume 7 Chapter 67 In the Great Hall
Ruisha and his group were led to the grand hall of the royal castle.
The hall bore the marks of recent battle, with charred spots from the clash between Knight Commander Eckel and Minister Granz from the Demon Kingdom. Repairing this would undoubtedly be a considerable task.
Yet, even in such a situation, King Floyd sat confidently on the throne, undeterred. His regal presence almost made it seem like this scorched state was the hall’s rightful appearance.
As Ruisha and his companions lined up before the king in this manner, prepared to kneel, King Floyd uttered, “It’s alright.”
At his words, their movements halted.
“You need not kneel. I cannot have the heroes who protected the kingdom perform such an act.”
Embarrassed by the king’s words, Ruisha and his group responded with sheepishness, displaying expressions of relaxation and jesting comments like, “Oh come on,” “Heroes… not a bad ring to it.”
“Sigh, embarrassing…”
Yuri, seeing his classmates in such a state, sighed and covered his eyes with his hand, seemingly exasperated.
However, even he had a slight smile tugging at his lips. He, too, felt glad seeing his comrades being praised.
“Now, first and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for your efforts in fighting for this country. Thank you. Due to all of you, the crisis was averted, and we achieved peace without causing anxiety among our people.”
While news of the demon’s attempt to harm the kingdom had reached the citizens, they knew that the scheme was thwarted thanks to the valiant actions of the Kingdom’s Knights and adventurers. Consequently, rather than causing anxiety, it bolstered the people’s trust in the kingdom that had bravely triumphed over the demons.
“However, we may have inadvertently portrayed a negative image of the demons. I deeply apologize for that.”
Saying this, King Floyd directed his gaze toward the individual standing behind Ruisha.
There stood a person with a round body and long limbs, distinctive features of the Demon Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Portoferino.
“Do not worry about it, King Floyd. Even though this incident was carried out on Uracan’s initiative, we fully accept the blame. We must humbly acknowledge that evaluation.”
For the damages suffered by the Kingdom in this incident, it was agreed that the Demon Kingdom would fully compensate. Despite the Demon Kingdom not being in a particularly prosperous financial situation, Portoferino, considering the need for maintaining a positive perception to Ruisha of the demon heritage, insisted on offering complete compensation.
As a result, the ringleader of this incident, Uracan, and the other surviving demons, would be handed over to the Demon Kingdom.
This act also served as a demonstration of the solid cooperation between the two nations to other countries.
“Lord Portoferino, I must apologize for the inconvenience caused. However, thanks to this incident, we have the opportunity to meet and talk like this. I would like to create opportunities for exchange between our countries for the benefit of both nations in the future.”
“Yes, of course. We would like to maintain a friendly relationship with the Kingdom of Exadore in the future…”
As Portoferino spoke, he carefully observed Ruisha from behind. Caught in the intense gaze, Ruisha felt a chill and trembled all over! He had conveyed to Portoferino that he couldn’t visit the Demon Kingdom, but he seemed undeterred. However, Ruisha hadn’t yet explained his connection to Demon King Testarossa, so this reaction was understandable.
Hence, Ruisha calmed Portoferino for the time being, promising to explain everything later.
“…”
Ruisha glanced at Sharo standing beside him.
Sharo looked tired, her gaze fixed on King Floyd. Normally, if Ruisha looked at her, Sharo would return the gaze. However, this time he was being ignored. Since defeating Uracan, she had been distant towards Ruisha.
(Ugh, the silence is tough… I really need to explain properly…)
The reason for Sharo’s attitude was clear. It was because Ruisha had used the power of the Demon King and declared himself the new Demon King.
The Demon King was a being that Sharo’s ancestors, the heroes, had defeated. Ruisha using that power must have greatly shocked Sharo.
So Ruisha had decided to gather his courage and tell everything.
But now was not the time. Ruisha couldn’t just tell his ordinary classmates like Burn and Chisha. It wasn’t because he didn’t trust them, but it was Ruisha’s consideration to avoid unnecessary trouble.
As Ruisha thought this in his mind, King Floyd shifted his gaze from Portoferino to Ruisha and the others.
“Regarding… Yuri’s classmates. Do you have any desires or requests? Yes, especially… don’t you have something you want to tell me?”
Saying this, King Floyd directed his gaze at Wolf, a beastman.
The meaning behind the king’s words was clear. The grand hall was instantly filled with a tense atmosphere, and nervousness ran through Ruisha and his friends.
