Volume 7 Chapter 48 Cooperation
“Even if the small fry join forces, nothing’s going to change!”
With this declaration, Spade raised his curved greatsword and attacked Sharo and Iris.
The terrifying killing intent emanated from Spade, but the two held their ground without looking away, ready to fight. To say they weren’t scared would be a lie, but they couldn’t afford to flee at this moment.
“Iris! I’ll stop the attack, take that chance!”
Sharo, with her shield deployed on her left arm, intercepted Spade’s sword.
The heavy blow swung down from above, cracking Sharo’s shield and putting tremendous strain on both her supporting left arm and body. Her arm that received the blow and the supporting leg screamed in agony, making cracking sounds, but Sharo desperately gritted her teeth, enduring the attack and showing that she had managed to hold it off.
“For a mere young girl to stop my powered-up attack…!”
Spade was shocked that his critical strike was directly blocked.
Not missing the opening created by his dismay, Iris advanced. Slashing her own left arm into a single character with her right hand’s claw, she thrust her right arm into the wound.
“Arise, my blood-bound weapon… ‘Bloodwind Scythe, Kepuuren’!”
With these words, she pulled her right arm out of the wound, revealing a massive scythe grasped in her hand, exceeding her height. The scythe had a pitch-black handle like darkness, and a crimson blade resembling fresh blood, a peculiar weapon that blended ferocity and beauty.
“Be engulfed…!”
With all her might, Iris swung the scythe towards Spade’s abdomen. The sharp strike effortlessly tore through Spade’s body, splattering blood around.
Spade unexpectedly wounded, grumbled, “Tch!” and momentarily distanced himself from the two. Despite his enhanced physique, it seemed he had suffered a significant blow.
“Iris, did you have such a weapon? If you did, you should have used it sooner.”
“This blood-bound weapon is a vampire secret technique, Sharo. Using it consumes a considerable amount of stamina, so it’s not something to be used lightly.”
“I see… Wait, Iris, you’re a vampire? No wonder you have such a beautiful face.”
“Come to think of it, I haven’t told you yet… I’m sorry.”
Iris lowered her head to Sharo. However, Sharo grabbed Iris’s shoulders and lifted her up.
“No need to apologize, Iris. Everyone has one or two secrets. More importantly, I’m happy you shared this secret with me. So hold your head high, you’ve got such magnificent assets.”
Saying this, Sharo poked and prodded Iris’s chest while laughing. Startled by this sudden harassment, Iris blushed and let out a girlish cry, “Eek!”
“Heh, what an amusing expression you have. Ru might even like that face.”
While engaging in trivial banter, the two turned their attention towards Spade and Urs.
The two seemed wary, observing Sharo and her companion’s movements. Their determination to fight hadn’t waned, but they appeared hesitant, unwilling to charge in recklessly.
Seeing them like this, Uracan let out a sigh and said, “Enough already, both of you. Struggling against these young girls for so long… If you keep this up, I might have to administer some ‘punishment,’ you know?”
Hearing Uracan’s cold words, the two subordinates shivered. They knew well what kind of treatment their boss gave to incompetent subordinates. Being subjected to such treatment themselves was no joke! With that thought, they simultaneously sprinted towards Sharo and Iris, launching an assault.
“They’re here! Stop being a hindrance!”
“That’s my line!”
The enhanced combat abilities of the two presented a clear advantage over Sharo and Iris. In a two-on-two situation, it was evident that Sharo and Iris were at a disadvantage. However, surprisingly, the two were able to respond to Urs and Spade’s attacks.
The reason was teamwork. Unlike Sharo and Iris, who fought to complement each other’s shortcomings, Urs and Spade lacked any coordination. They were not working together effectively, hindering their ability to unleash their full potential. At times, their allies even got in the way.
“Alright… If we keep this up…!”
As the battle began to turn in their favor, Sharo started to feel hopeful. Her mind was sharp, and she could now perceive and anticipate all of the enemy’s attacks. However, suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her right thigh.
“Ouch!”
Startled, she checked her leg, only to find a magic-made arrow stuck in her thigh. The two right in front of her wouldn’t employ such an attack. If not them, there was only one possible culprit.
“You coward!”
Sharo muttered this as she glared at Uracan, who was watching the battle from a distance. Seeing Sharo wince in pain, Uracan displayed a satisfied smile and cheerfully waved at her. Quite the pleasant personality.
“Hey, do you have time to be distracted?”
“Sorry…!”
In a split second, just a moment, Sharo was momentarily distracted by Uracan.
Urs seized this opportunity and delivered a powerful strike to Sharo’s lower right with a punch. Sharo managed to deploy her shield between her fist and body, but she took the impact head-on and was sent flying.
“Sharo!!”
Iris attempted to intervene, but Spade blocked her. Iris tried to maneuver around him to reach Sharo, but Spade wouldn’t allow it.
“Can’t you behave and just watch quietly? Let’s enjoy this together. Watching your friend fall apart.”
“You scum…!”
Desperately swinging her scythe, Iris found Spade effortlessly blocking her attempts. Once in a defensive position, breaking through became difficult.
Meanwhile, Urs condensed magic into his fist, preparing for a lethal strike.
Its name: “Magic Thunder Fist.” A simple technique where magic, condensed to its utmost limit, was wrapped in lightning and struck.
However, its simplicity made it challenging to defend against.
“Oh, Urs, you seem fully intent on killing. …Well, fine. Keeping her alive might prove troublesome, after all.”
Uracan’s prediction was spot on. Urs was already completely infuriated, having entirely forgotten the order to take her alive.
All that occupied his mind now was anger and the intent to kill. Sharo sensed this and desperately tried to rise, but the damage from the previous blow to her leg made it difficult to stand properly.
“Now, die!”
Urs struck with all his might, slamming his fist.
In this dire situation, Sharo, thinking it was the end, looked down… but then, she heard footsteps in her ears.
“This sound…!”
There was no mistaking it.
It was the sound she had heard many times.
The moment she heard that sound, a warm fire ignited in Sharo’s heart. Looking up vigorously at the approaching fist, she murmured with a smile.
“Silly, you’re way too slow.”
In the next moment, Urs’ fist collided, generating a thunderous boom.
However, it wasn’t Sharo that he had hit.
“Phew, sorry for being a bit late. But I made it in time, didn’t I?”
Urs’ fist collided with the hand of a suddenly appearing young boy, which had intercepted the blow.
Around the same age as the girls, yet showing no signs of using magic… just who could this person be!? Shock rippled through the ranks of the magical creatures.
“Who in the world are you!?”
As the question was thrown at him, the young boy released Urs’ fist and summoned a golden sword seemingly out of nowhere, assuming a poised stance.
His stance was so perfected that one couldn’t believe he was just a young boy—it was as if he had trained as a warrior for hundreds of years.
“My name is Ruisha Bardy. I am the one who will defeat you all!!”

Volume 7 Chapter 49 Color of the Soul
“You think you can defeat us…? Don’t underestimate us, brat!”
Urs expressed his anger at Ruisha, who had suddenly appeared.
However, he only fumed and kept a certain distance from Ruisha without launching an attack.
It wasn’t just because his attacks were easily intercepted…
His long-honed warrior instincts held him back from attacking Ruisha. Despite just standing there in front of him, alarms were blaring in his head.
(Why!? Am I getting scared by such a kid…!?)
Urs was puzzled. However, if he kept standing around like this, he might be shot from behind by their leader. Gathering his resolve, Urs began concentrating magic in his right fist again.
Stronger and more densely gathered than when he struck Sharo, this magic emitted black lightning. This technique was Urs’s strongest and most powerful move.
“Disappear, brat! Magic Thunder Fist – Hengoku!!”
Snap! Snap! Snap! The violent black thunder resounded loudly as Urs enveloped his fist with it and delivered a full-force straight punch to Ruisha’s abdomen.
The impact of that strike released an immense shockwave in the surroundings, causing cracks in the ground.
Even from a distance, the power was astonishing. Yet, Ruisha made no attempt to dodge, taking the strike head-on.
“Ru!”
“Ruisha-sama!”
Seeing this, Sharo and Iris called out Ruisha’s name in worry.
While both of them trusted Ruisha, taking a hit like that naturally made them concerned.
“…Heh, what a foolish kid. If only you’d quietly run away, you might have avoided a swift death,” Urs remarked, looking at Ruisha with confidence of victory.
Ruisha, who had taken Urs’ all-out strike, which shattered into pieces just as Urs had intended… or so it should have, was nowhere to be seen.
Not only was there not a single scratch on Ruisha, but he hadn’t moved an inch from where he was struck.
Seeing Ruisha like this, Urs felt a cold sensation on his back and instinctively jumped back, increasing the distance. What Urs felt was undoubtedly “fear.”
“Magic Thunder Fist – Hengoku… huh? Quite a grand name, but in the end, it’s just a punch with magic infused. The completeness of the technique is several notches below Burn’s Exploding Fist. It heavily relies on brute strength,” Ruisha evaluated the technique he had received with a nonchalant expression.
A human boy was not only directly withstanding his attack, an elite magic creature, but also evaluating it. This incomprehensible sight left Urs confused.
“U, u, ugo, ugoaahh!!”
Urs, whose brain went haywire and spiraled into madness, once again imbued magic into his fist and charged at Ruisha. A reckless attack with no strategy, but it was the only option left for Urs.
Seeing him like this, Ruisha let out a short sigh, then forcefully kicked the ground and closed the distance in an instant.
“Let’s go!”
Before Urs could throw his punch, Ruisha’s fist pierced Urs’ abdominal muscles faster.
Crack! A dry sound echoed in the vicinity, and the next moment, Urs dropped to his knees right where he stood.
“Ga…!”
Though he didn’t lose consciousness, he opened his eyes wide and drooled profusely from his mouth due to the tremendous impact.
It was a shock as if a bomb had exploded inside his body. The pain was so intense that he felt he would offer anything to be free from it.
“You… What in the world did you do…?”
“I… imbued a concentrated mass of magic into my fist and struck it into your body at the moment of impact. The magic inside your body is designed to explode with a time delay.”
“Manipulating magic in such detail, not many even among the magical beings can do that…! Who are you!?”
Urs was astonished, trying to extract Ruisha’s true identity. The technique Ruisha had used was truly beyond human capabilities.
“Who I am doesn’t matter. More importantly, how many people have you killed?”
Ruisha spoke coldly and drew the Dragon King Sword, pressing its golden, gleaming blade against Urs neck as he knelt.
A swing of the arm, and Urs head would be sent airborne.
Feeling the tension, Urs swallowed hard and cautiously answered Ruisha’s question.
“H-How many people I’ve killed… you say? W-Well, just a person or two? Come on, despite how it may seem, I’m surprisingly a pacifist.”
Urs desperately tried to maintain his facade.
But Ruisha, looking at him, had a cold gaze.
Because… Ruisha’s eyes could perceive the depth of Urs sins.
The ‘Dragon Eyes’ possessed by the dragon race.
These eyes had the ability to see the flow of Qi, but they had other abilities as well.
They could see the ‘soul.’ The Dragon Eyes could vividly depict the color and form of the target’s soul, discerning whether the person was good or evil.
The color of Urs soul, as seen through Ruisha’s Dragon Eyes, was a dark and murky color. It was the color one would have to possess if they had harm innocent people.
The other two magical beings had the same color. How much evil must one commit to taint their soul to this extent? Thinking about it made Ruisha’s chest ache.
“I’ve heard enough… I can’t sense anything from your words.”
“W-Wait…!”
Ignoring the panicked Urs, Ruisha exerted strength in the hand that held the sword and swept it sideways.
