Volume 7 Chapter 40 On the clock tower
The Destiny Clock Tower.
It is the second tallest building in the Exadore Kingdom after the royal castle.
Shaped like a rectangular prism, it has a large clock on each of its four sides at the top. The tower has the duty of ringing bells every six hours from midnight to inform the kingdom’s residents of the time.
Three men stood on top of this clock tower.
“Hehe, what a splendid view. My heart races at the thought of acquiring this entire kingdom.”
Saying this with a smug grin was Uracan, the leader of the demons that had attacked the kingdom.
Behind him were his trusted confidants, Urs and Spade.
“You’re in high spirits, boss.”
“Of course, Urs. Not only a new demon king is about to be born, but we can have the whole kingdom. The land here is so fertile, something the demon territories lack.”
The demon territories’ land is not conducive to crop growth.
The reason lies in the excessive magic permeating the land. Excessive magic adversely affects life; a condition known as magic poisoning affects not only animals but plants too.
Land with an abundance of magic is favorable to demons, but it’s harsh for crops. Conversely, the human territories have a lower magic concentration.
Therefore, if they could acquire the kingdom, Uracan could significantly address the food problem plaguing the demon territories. This would solidify his position among the demons.
“It’s almost time for the warriors at the inn to start moving.”
“Yes, soon the kingdom will turn into a hellish scene. I’m looking forward to it, boss.”
“It’s been a long time… It took me three hundred years to come this far. But finally, my heartfelt desire will be fulfilled.”
Unable to contain the smile as he envisioned his glorious future, Uracan’s excitement was palpable. His two subordinates happily nodded at their boss’s demeanor.
It seemed like the plan would progress smoothly without any hindrances. However, there was someone trying to thwart it.
“What are you all doing?”
“Hm?”
Suddenly addressed from behind, Uracan and his group turned around. Standing there were three men and women.
There was a beautiful young girl and two men with handsome features. Where could they have come from? Uracan was wary of these strangers.
“Who are you? Judging from the magic, you seem to be of our kind.”
The magic emanating from the three wasn’t human; it was demonic. However, Uracan had no knowledge of other demons being in the kingdom besides his group. Who were they? Were they allies? No matter how much he thought, he couldn’t understand.
After some hesitation at Uracan’s question, the three stepped forward. The young girl spoke up.
“…Alright, I’ll introduce ourselves. I am Iris V. Vondersen, a vampire.”
Yes, she was Iris, the vampire who served Ruisha.
With her demon eyes, she sensed the ominous magic gathering at the top of the clock tower and gathered her fellow vampires residing in the kingdom to come here.
Upon hearing her introduction, Uracan curled his lips into an ugly smile.
“Oh! A vampire, how rare! I must say, today is a lucky day; not only the kingdom but vampires are also up for grabs!”
“Up for… grabs?”
Uracan’s rude words elicited a clear discomfort from Iris and the other two vampires.
Nevertheless, Uracan continued, heedless of their feelings.
“Oh, my apologies. By the way, I haven’t introduced myself yet. I am Uracan, the one who will become the new Demon King.”
“The new Demon King…?”
Upon hearing this, the vampires bared their fangs and bristled their hair.
Of course, they were followers of Testarossa, and to become the new Demon King without acknowledging her was a grave insult.
“Heh, don’t get too angry. I know you revere the former king, but clinging to the past is not advisable, you know?”
“You… I’ll kill you!”
Finally unable to contain their anger, the vampires charged forward.
However, Uracan remained composed and calmly ordered his two subordinates, “Get them.”
Thus, the battle between demons was ignited.

Volume 7 Chapter 41 Sword and Fist
Vampires are a race known for their exceptional combat abilities.
Among the demon race, they possess high levels of both physical and magical prowess, and they can also use their unique blood magic.
However, even for them, Uracan’s subordinates proved to be a formidable challenge.
“Oof!!”
One of Iris’ fellow vampires, struck by the slashing attack of Spade, a demon wielding two curved greatswords, fell to the ground.
His torso had been slashed, and copious amounts of crimson blood oozed from the wounds. He quickly manipulated the blood using his vampire powers to clot and stop the bleeding, but still, the amount of blood that flowed was significant. He likely had no remaining strength to continue the fight.
“Kuh! I’ll take on the opponent! Kianos, step back!”
“…I’m sorry, Iris.”
Replacing Kianos, a blue-haired vampire incapacitated by the battle, Iris faced off against Spade.
In Iris’ hand was a longsword made from her own blood. Weapons crafted from vampire blood were much more robust than ordinary ones. However, after enduring Spade’s attacks just two or three times, the sword developed cracks. His slashing strikes were indeed sharp and heavy.
“Hyahahaha! So fragile, incredibly fragile!!”
At first glance, Spade’s swordsmanship appeared wild and chaotic, but the precision and flawless intent behind his attacks were undeniable. Even someone as talented among the vampires as Iris struggled to the utmost just to endure these attacks, leaving no room for a counteroffensive.
On the other hand, Urs, the burly demon and Uracan’s other subordinate, was engaged in a battle with the green vampire, Floros.
Floros wasn’t particularly skilled in close combat; instead, he excelled in magic attacks. One might have thought this would give him an advantage against Urs, who specialized in physical combat.
However, contrary to expectations, Floros found himself in a tough situation.
“Is this guy… invincible!? Magic has absolutely no effect!!”
Floros’s favored magic, “Crimson Blade Flyer, Blood Edge,” transformed blood into a crescent-shaped blade and launched it. Its power could cut through wood and split rocks, yet it had no effect on Urs.
“What’s wrong? Just scurrying around won’t defeat me.”
“Kuh…! How about this! Advanced Crimson Blade Flyer, High Blood Edge!!”
Floros shot out a massive blade exceeding two meters. Despite its colossal size, it flew at Urs with an unimaginable speed and impaled his torso.
“Alright!”
Seizing the opportunity, Floros quickly closed the distance. He infused his hands with magical energy, preparing for a lethal strike.
On the other hand, Urs, with the blade still impaled in his torso, moved both arms and casually gripped the blade.
“Hmph!”
And then, he firmly grasped the blade with both hands, causing it to shatter into pieces.
“What…!?”
Floros was left dumbfounded by the unbelievable sight.
His astonishment went beyond Urs merely shattering magic with his bare hands. Surprisingly, the area where the blade had pierced seemed to have merely grazed the skin, causing no substantial damage.
The wound closed within a matter of seconds, leaving no trace behind. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it ‘no damage’.
Urs wiped away a small amount of his own flowing blood with his finger and then turned his gaze towards Floros.
“Well, is it my turn?”
“I-I can’t believe…!”
Floros, who had maintained a certain distance until now, had now closed the gap inadvertently. He tried to stop and retreat in a hurry, but it was already too late. Urs approached with an unexpectedly swift pace for his massive size and struck Floros’ torso with a fist the size of a human head.
“Guah…!!”
An unprecedented impact struck Floros’ abdomen. The force passed through his abdominal muscles and compressed his organs. The organs within his body were forced to shrink to their limits, causing the contents within to flow backward and be expelled from his mouth.
“Ugh, how disgusting.”
Looking at Floros, who collapsed into his own vomit, Urs sneered. Even though he had been holding back in his punches, if he had struck with full force, Floros’ upper and lower body would probably have been torn apart. The reason he didn’t do that was simply because Floros was a vampire. Vampires were a rare species, and Urs believed they might be useful in some way.
“Now then, your companions have been dealt with. What will you do?”
Uracan, who had been watching from a vantage point, posed this question to Iris.
Spade stopped swinging his sword, understanding that he shouldn’t interrupt the conversation. Surprisingly, he was quite loyal to the boss’s orders.
“What do you mean by ‘what will you do’? I’m still perfectly fine, you know?” Iris responded bravely despite the dire situation. Seeing her act so bravely, Uracan licked his lips in a repulsive manner.
“Heh… You’re quite the woman, I like that. Let me welcome you as one of my wives.” Uracan said these unsettling words while wearing a creepy smile. Iris was utterly disgusted.
“Do you really think I would accept that? Spare me from your nonsense,” she replied.
“On the contrary, I ask, what reason do you have to refuse? I am a man destined to become the Demon King. There’s no better catch than me.”
“In the first place, seeking to be a demon king is simply absurd. I’m not foolish enough to follow those who spout such delusions.”
“Well, indeed. My words may lack credibility. In that case, I’ll show you something special.”
Saying this, Uracan pulled out an old, brown book from his pocket.
The book emitted a tremendously ominous magical power. Iris, who possessed magical eyes, found it hard to look at, so eerie was the aura it exuded.
“This is the ‘Book of the Demon King.’ It contains the methods to create a new Demon King.”
