Volume 11 Chapter 6 Black Shadow
“Ugh… Where am I?”
While rubbing her aching head, Sharo, a young girl with pink hair, woke up.
The place where she woke up was a beach. The only sound she could hear was the sound of the waves.
“Are you awake?”
Looking towards the voice, she saw Iris, her friend, comrade, and a formidable rival.
It seemed like Iris had woken up earlier and was watching over Sharo.
“It seems like I overslept a bit. I’ll extend my gratitude.”
“No worries. Can you walk? I sense an unpleasant atmosphere here. It’s probably best not to stay too long.”
“Understood. I’ll be fine. Let’s go.”
The two of them left the beach and walked through the island.
The island was mostly covered in trees, forming a forest. Since they couldn’t see far ahead, they ended up walking without a clear destination in mind.
“The visible area above us is the sea, right? So, this island is underwater? I feel like I’m losing my mind…”
“I sense a high concentration of magic from the island itself. Perhaps this island is influenced by a strong magical effect.”
Iris, being a vampire, had a strong ability to sense magic.
She strongly sensed the peculiarity of this island.
“It’s safe to consider this island as an ‘otherworld.’ It’s better to think that common sense, the surface world won’t apply here.”
“Yeah, everything’s so confusing. It’s giving me a headache.”
The two of them advanced through the forest while confirming the surroundings.
However, no matter how much they progressed, they only encountered trees and didn’t come across any allies.
Gradually, Sharo’s spirits dampened.
“… I wonder if Ru is safe.”
“If it’s Ruisha-sama, he’ll be fine. Let’s believe in that.”
Without a hint of doubt, Iris declared so.
Seeing her like that, Sharo wiped away her gloomy expression and showed her usual confident smile.
“That’s right. Ru will be okay. I’m sure he’s out there somewhere, fighting.”
“Yes, exactly.”
The two quickened their pace.
There might be something in the middle of the island. Thinking so, they walked straight ahead with determination. Suddenly, Iris came to a halt.
“What’s wrong? What happened?”
“…Something’s approaching.”
Sharo strained her ears.
Then, from deep within the forest, they heard a sound, like something crawling.
“What is this sound, and… what’s that smell…”
Sharo drew her sword with her right hand and covered her nose with her left hand.
The putrid stench, reminiscent of rotting fish, grew stronger and stronger.
“…It’s coming.”
Rustling through the grass, it revealed itself.
A body with a dark blue, squishy skin, and numerous wriggling legs. Lifeless, pitch-black eyes showed no signs of consciousness. With a large, three-meter-long body, it crawled on the ground, approaching Sharo and Iris.
If one were to describe it, it was like a giant octopus. A quite eerie one at that.
Seeing its grotesque form, both of them felt goosebumps all over their bodies.
“What is this thing? It’s disgustingly creepy…”
“Ugh,” Sharo’s expression clouded.
Then the octopus, with its vacant eyes, focused on her and swung one of its legs in her direction.
“Wait…!?”
Sharo managed to evade somehow.
The leg, losing its target, hit a tree behind her and snapped. If it had hit her directly, her torso would have suffered the same fate.
“It seems this one wants to be sashimi!”
“Don’t let your guard down, Sharo. Clearly, this octopus is no ordinary creature…!”
“I know! I’ll finish it off in one go!”
Sharo readied her sword and rushed towards the octopus.
The octopus swung its numerous legs, attempting to repel her.
“Cherry Blossom Style… Cherry Blossoms Scatter and Tear!
In an instant, Sharo sliced through the approaching legs.
Caught off guard by the unexpected counterattack, the octopus hesitated and slightly eased its offensive. Seizing the opportunity, Iris activated her magic.
“Crimson Spear of Fresh Blood, Blood Lance!”
A crimson spear released from Iris’s hand pierced through the octopus’s body.
Yet, the octopus didn’t die; it continued to gaze at Iris with its vacant eyes.
“—!?”
In the moment that gaze met hers, Iris felt profound fear.
Using that opening, the octopus wrapped Iris tightly in its thick leg, immobilizing her. The gooey mucus on its leg clung to her body, causing Iris intense discomfort.
“Th… this…!”
She tried to exert force and free herself from the restraint. However, the octopus’s strength was formidable, and coupled with the slimy substance, she couldn’t break free.
This was getting dangerous. Thinking so, Sharo swiftly approached the octopus’s head to decisively end the battle.
“I’ll end this with a single strike…!”
The target was the space between the eyes, the forehead.
Sharo knew that was the octopus’s weak point.
She slipped through the space between its attacking legs, raising her sword high and bringing it down.
“Cherry Blossom Flash”
Sharo’s powerful slash deeply cut the octopus’s forehead. From that wound, pale blue blood sprayed out, and the octopus’s body rapidly turned white.
“…ru fu… i a… a…”
Uttering inarticulate sounds, the octopus met its end.
Iris, who had been restrained, was freed, and both of them breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you. I’m saved.”
“It’s no big deal. Anyway, you’re all messy. Here, let me wipe you off.”
“No, I’m okay… wait, really, I’m fine, uh, there…”
“Your chest is really big… what did you eat to grow this much?”
Holding down Iris, who resisted, Sharo forcibly wiped her body. Each time, Iris squirmed and let out sweet sounds of “n♡.” Hearing that, Sharo began to enjoy it more and vigorously wiped her body.
Having her whole body explored, Iris blushed with embarrassment.
“Ugh, I can’t get married anymore…”
“Come on, instead of saying silly things, let’s hurry up and go.”
The two who defeated the mysterious enemy ventured back into the depths of the forest.

Volume 11 Chapter 7 Undersea Duel
“Haaaah!”
Roaring, Ruisha charges forward.
Standing in his path is the former great pirate captain, Bat.
Bat waits for Ruisha to approach, and he wears a smile on his bony face.
“Come, little brat!”
“I don’t need to be told!”
Ruisha clenches his right fist tightly, focusing his Qi.
The weakness of a skeleton is blunt force. Ruisha knew that slashing attacks were not very effective.
Although Bat was much stronger than an ordinary skeleton, he should still have the same weakness. That’s what Ruisha thought.
Anticipating Ruisha’s attack with his fist, Bat also clenches his fist.
His stance is messy, resembling a stance taken in a brawl. It didn’t seem like he followed the path of martial arts.
However, that stance was solid, and Ruisha could sense the aura of a strong individual.
“Qigong Technique, Attack Form: Meteor Fist!!”
“Brawling Killer Technique, Barbarian Shell Fist!!”
Both unleash their deadly fists simultaneously, colliding.
The impact is tremendous, creating an intense shockwave and a deafening roar in the surroundings. If anyone were nearby, they would have mistaken it for a large bomb exploding.
“This guy is surprising. I never thought he could match my fist.”
The power of their punches was equal, but due to the difference in weight, Bat had the advantage.
Even after his body had decomposed, only bones remained, his weight still exceeded 100 kilograms.
The terrifying thing was the density of those bones.
His bones, with a well-polished physique, had evolved to be thick and hard, possessing a hardness surpassing iron by a significant margin.
(Engaging in a direct punch seems disadvantageous… in that case!)
Ruisha utilized his speed to circle around to the side.
Then, with momentum, he leaped and delivered a sharp roundhouse kick to Bat’s neck, aiming at the cervical vertebrae.
(The cervical vertebrae are a bone’s weak point. This should work!)
Ruisha’s aim wasn’t bad.
If it were an ordinary skeleton, the neck would have been shattered, and it would have taken time to revive.
However, his opponent was a legendary pirate feared by all who lived in the sea. The strength of his physique far exceeded Ruisha’s expectations.
“—Ouch!?”
Due to the sharp pain running through his toes, Ruisha grimaced.
At the moment of the kick, Ruisha had indeed focused his Qi on his toes. However, even so, the hardness of Bat’s bones proved superior.
“I have always been a man with strong bones. That hasn’t changed to this day.”
Despite a powerful kick, Bat showed no signs of damage.
The extreme hardness of it brought worry to Ruisha’s face.
(There seem to be no cracks in the bones of my leg… I can still fight with this. But it’s so hard that I can’t attack easily…)
Elemental magic like fire and ice is not effective against the skeleton that lost its flesh.
With physical strikes ineffective as well, the options were becoming scarce.
“What’s wrong, young one? Have you exhausted your hand already?”
“Urgh…”
Ruisha still had an ace up his sleeve.
It was the ‘Demon Dragon Mode’ he used in the battle against Chrome.
Although there was a time limit, utilizing it would enhance Ruisha’s physical abilities to the utmost. In this state, no matter how strong the opponent’s body is, he could still inflict damage.
(But if I use that, I won’t be able to move for a while. It’s bad to become like that in this situation…!)
Even if he defeated Captain Bat, the journey wouldn’t end there.
In the first place, they hadn’t found a way to return from this underwater island. Winning wouldn’t mean much if he ended up immobilized.
He had to keep the Demon Dragon Mode as a truly last resort.
“…It seems waiting won’t bring out anything interesting. Looks like there are others who have come here… Shall we end this?”
Slowly, Bat approaches Ruisha.
In its hollow eyes, cold intent resides. It seems like it truly intends to end it.
“Sorry, but just die.”
Bat tightly grips its fist and swings it down towards Ruisha.
A merciless strike intended to decisively end him. However, that attack couldn’t finish off Ruisha.
“…What? You’re still standing?”
Bat smiles happily.
Before his eyes, Ruisha caught the bone fist with one hand.
Ruisha’s expression, which previously seemed composed, had changed.
His gaze sharpened, his face becoming stern.
The aura he exuded shifted from calm to intense, and Bat felt a strong killing intent piercing through that bone.
“I can’t afford to lose here…!”
Said Ruisha in a rough tone, and then struck Bat’s face with all his might.
Sharp pain surged through his fist, but he paid it no mind. He gritted his teeth and sent Bat flying with the punch.
Thrown off, Bat does a somersault in the air and lands with a thud away from Ruisha. Even with the rotation, it seems he couldn’t completely dampen the momentum, leaving marks on the ground as he dragged his feet.
“Heh… being thrown like that, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Even back when I was alive, it rarely happened.”
While massaging his pained face, Bat looks at Ruisha.
Then, seeing the intense killing intent emanating from him, he grasps what Ruisha has done.
“I see. You’ve unleashed the ferocity within your body. Those who usually remain calm have the most ferocious beasts within. Being able to release it at will, quite the feat.”
Bat’s speculation was correct.
Ruisha had unleashed the restraints on his rationality, boosting his ferocity and physical abilities.
While sacrificing his calm judgment and precise technique, he prioritized the increase in strength for now.
“How interesting. Let’s have a good old brawl.”
“You will be defeated here by me!”
The two beasts abandon defense and clash head-on.
