Volume 10 Chapter 34 Friends
“What… is this…?”
The pirates were fixated on Cindy and paid no attention to Ruisha.
However, their perception changed when they saw their comrade being sent flying with a punch.
“This kid is no ordinary person.”
“Are you sane? Going into a fight on Oafuru Island, aren’t you crazy?”
“It doesn’t matter if I’m expelled from this island. By then, I’ll have defeated all of you.”
Facing Ruisha’s cold and unyielding words without a change in expression, the pirates trembled.
They were cowards holed up on this hidden island, but pirates through and through. They had faced crises several times before.
Yet, on this day, they felt that their lives were in the greatest danger in their pirate careers.
“Also… doesn’t it seem strange to you? I broke the rules and yet I haven’t received the consequences.”
“Now that you mention it…”
The moment the rules of this island were broken, the administrator should have appeared. Yet, the administrator had not shown up yet in this situation.
“When I heard the rule of this island, which is ‘forbidding duels among pirates,’ I thought, ‘Maybe it doesn’t apply to us.’ After all, we are ‘not pirates.’ We assist Cindy, but we haven’t become official comrades.”
However, Ruisha never tried it because it was risky. However, in a situation like this, it was a different story. It was worth risking the danger.
And sure enough, Ruisha won the gamble.
“If I recognize myself as a ‘pirate’ in this situation, you won’t be able to lay a finger on me. But don’t worry, I won’t do something so tasteless.”
“You brat…! Stop underestimating pirates!”
Drawing his saber, a pirate lunged at Ruisha. But before that, Wolf dashed forward and kicked the pirate away.
“If the boss is fine, then I’m fine too. But seriously, if you’re going to do something, let me know. I’ve been itching to punch them for a while.”
“…Exactly. If you command me, I would have incinerated these lowly beings with jet-black flames.”
In agreement with Wolf, Viness also stepped forward in front of the pirates.
“What can a bunch of kids do when they gather! Take ’em down!”
The pirates all attacked the three at once, and a brawl broke out in the shop.
Cindy, unable to participate, watched it from a short distance away.
“Geez, I couldn’t have predicted this.”
In a somewhat exasperated but somehow pleased expression, she murmured.
Then, Ruisha approached her. Properly, on his back, he carried Cindy’s comrade, the crew member who was still unconscious, seemingly having brought him to a safe place for now.
“Yoisho… there we go. Cindy, take care of this person. It’ll be over soon, so wait a little.”
“Yeah, leave it to me. And… thank you for helping my comrades. I’m really grateful.”
Taking off the black triangular hat she was wearing, Cindy bowed her head.
Although she usually gave off a rough impression, her series of actions conveyed elegance and sincerity.
“It’s fine, you don’t need to bow your head. Earlier I said ‘not a comrade,’ but I truly consider everyone as my comrades.”
“Hmph, I feel the same way even without you saying that.”
Ruisha nodded in response to her words and turned on his heel, returning to the brawl venue.

“He’s the last one… take this!”
“Ah, stop――――!”
Wolf mercilessly punched the pirate begging for his life.
There were dozens of pirates, but they were no match for Ruisha and the others and were subdued within a few minutes.
“Both of you, good job. We made it.”
“It was nothing. Didn’t even need to use my evil eye.”
“Haha, that’s reassuring.”
“You’re quite at ease talking, Captain. I’m still not used to it…”
The three of them spoke with a sense of composure. Cindy approached them.
“I want to thank all of you. Thanks to you, I was able to safely retrieve my valuable crew. Thank you so much.”
“It’s just… the least we could do. Right, you two?”
In response to Ruisha’s question, Wolf and Viness nodded with smiles.
Among them, there was not a single person who found fighting for their comrades to be a nuisance.

“Hey, you’re doing great!”
The group, now back on the ship, saw the crew loading cargo onto the ship.
It seemed they had already stopped at the ‘Songstress’s Sea Treasure Hall,’ as a significant amount of cargo was being loaded onto the ship.
“Ah, you’re back. Ru! Help out too!”
Sharo shouted loudly, calling Ruisha and the others.
She was also helping with the loading, sweating on the ship.
“You must be tired, Sharo. Was everything okay on your end?”
“Yeah, no problems at all. You didn’t do anything reckless over there, did you?”
“Huh. Haha… probably not.”
Ruisha evaded the question, well aware of what he had done, and Sharo sighed in exasperation.
“Well, as long as everything’s fine. Here, since this cargo is big, let’s carry it together. You take that side.”
“Got it. Yoisho… there we go.”
The two of them happily carried the cargo and took it into the ship.
Cindy watched their actions from the shore. Then,
“To finally be leaving, Cindy.”
“Egil-jii…”
She wondered how long he had been there. Behind her was Egil, the caretaker of the island.
His expression was hard to discern due to the black robe, but his way of speaking carried a sense of loneliness.
“You yearned for it since childhood, set off on a journey, pursued it… grew, and now, this is the time.”
“Yeah. I understand. This is probably my prime time. The age where everything is going well. And with reliable companions, too.”
“Your instincts are accurate. This year is the ‘Year of the Disrupted Stars.’ It’s a year where things that are normally impossible might come true. If your reckless dream is to come true, now is the time like no other.”
“That’s good to hear. Having Egil-jii’s approval gives me confidence.”
Saying so, Cindy grinned.
However, in contrast to her, Egil’s face was dark.
“…It seems I have caused inconvenience due to the rules and regulations of this island. I apologize.”
“Huh? Oh, you mean those spineless folks. Don’t worry about it. Ruisha and the others managed to handle it.”
“No, this is a failing of both me and this island.”
Egil muttered seriously, and Cindy also adopted a solemn expression.
“Please, Egil-jii, stop blaming yourself. Yes, this time was a bit dangerous, but I’ve been saved by this island many times. I don’t mind a little trouble like this.”
“No. Such occurrences have been happening more frequently lately. Times are changing… Fewer people use this island for its original purpose. This may be the ‘right time’ for this area.”
Egil chuckled with a self-deprecating tone.
He had been planning to blockade this island. Before the cherished memories were completely tarnished, he had thought of erasing this hidden island from the sea.
Sensing this, Cindy didn’t try to stop him; she simply said this.
“Well, if Egil-jii thinks it’s a good idea, I won’t stop you. But personally, I think it’s too early to decide.”
She hopped onto the ship.
Looking down at the ground, she said,
“I have a feeling—the sea is going to become interesting again. It’s a waste to withdraw from a front-row seat where you can enjoy the view.”
Though there was no evidence, she was confident. Egil chuckled at her words.
“…A waste, huh? Well then, at least until you return, I’ll keep it here. If you have no home to return to, you might lose your way.”
“Yeah, look forward to my return. I’ll come back with a treasure trove so massive you can’t carry it all.”
“Haha, that is indeed something to look forward to.”
Saying this, they both smiled and parted ways.
As they watched the ship moving far away from the island, Egil muttered to himself.
“…You did well, William. Your spirit still resides in this sea.”
