A Beautiful Model In My Class Comes To The Coffee Shop Where I Work Part-time Only When I'm On Shift - Chapter 39
Episode 39: Juntaro’s Desires
After satisfying their hunger, Shizuku took a sip of coffee.
Normally, Shizuku drinks coffee that is strong in bitterness but low in acidity. Kona coffee is the polar opposite of that, but would it really suit her taste?
“…! So, this is what ‘fruity’ tastes like!”
With that remark, Shizuku took another sip of the coffee.
It seemed to have pleased her.
“It does have some acidity, but it’s quite easy to drink.”
“That’s good… Many people are not fond of acidity.”
“To be honest, I was a bit hesitant too, but it has a flavor that grows on you.”
Shizuku quickly finished her coffee.
She reluctantly placed the empty cup aside and checked her wristwatch.
“What should we do? We have quite a bit of time left.”
It was still past 1pm. Most of the attractions at Hakkeijima Sea Paradise were already visited, and we were running out of things to do. Of course, we had no intention of parting ways just yet. Opportunities to spend a whole day with Shizuku were rare.
“By the way, Juntaro, is there any place you want to go? As for what I want to do…well, if I say I accomplished it, I could, and if I say I haven’t, I haven’t accomplished it…”
“Hmm? Is there something you haven’t done yet?”
“N-no! I’m fine! It’s just not the right mood for it now…”
“…?”
While Shizuku’s eyes wandered, she delegated the decision-making to me.
…What should I do? It would have been nice to come up with an opinion on the spot.
“Well, with Juntaro, just chatting aimlessly somewhere would be fun enough.”
Upon receiving Shizuku’s encouragement, I realized.
“Right… There’s something I’ve been wanting to try with you.”
“Oh, what is it?”
Excited, Shizuku leaned forward as I revealed something I had wanted to do for a while.
Leaving Hakkeijima Sea Paradise behind, we arrived at Yokohama Station.
It was my first time getting off at Yokohama Station. Shizuku seemed to have visited it a few times for filming, so she navigated the vast station effortlessly.
“Is it okay if we go this way?”
“Yeah, it should be fine.”
Checking the destination on my phone, I followed Shizuku.
Being familiar with the area, she quickly identified the location despite my clumsy explanation. It was quite reassuring. If I were alone, I’d probably still be wandering around the station.
After leaving the station and walking for a while, our destination came into view.
“This is the café Juntaro wanted to visit, right?”
“That’s right. It has a nice atmosphere, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, it’s different from Mellow, more… refreshing, I guess.”
While Cafe Mellow had the atmosphere of a traditional coffee shop, this cafe had a trendy exterior perfect for social media.
What I wanted to do with Shizuku was café hopping.
Utahara-san had mentioned that trying coffee from various places was crucial to mastering coffee. The beans, the type of cup, and the overall atmosphere of the cafe—all these elements were essential for enjoying coffee.
Since then, I have tried visiting different cafes alone.
However, perhaps due to my fondness for Cafe Mellow, I felt my subjective opinion overshadowing the experience, leaving me with little insight.
Having someone like Shizuku, who was in a neutral position, might help me perceive things differently. That’s what led to the suggestion of café hopping.
“Sorry for dragging you along with my hobby.”
“It’s okay. This is what Juntaro wants to do, right? So, accompanying you is what I want to do.”
Shizuku winked proudly.
I truly had a great friend.
“Thank you. Let’s go in right away.”
The cafe was filled with young women and couples. Since a two-person table was available, we were seated there.
“The menu looks stylish, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, it’s very Instagram-worthy.”
While we admired the menu written in rounded fonts, our choices were already clear. It would be a blend of coffee and one dessert.
“Hey, Juntaro. I have a suggestion.”
“Hm?”
“Juntaro, you’re ordering the blend, right? Then I’ll get a cafe latte, and we can switch later, okay?”
It was a helpful suggestion. Knowing about the menu besides coffee wouldn’t hurt.
“Thanks. That’ll be helpful.”
“It’s my pleasure.”
“…?”
For some reason, Shizuku seemed restless as she closed the menu.
What’s wrong? Her face seemed redder than usual.
“Are you okay?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah! I’m fine!”
“Is that so…”
I’ve noticed Shizuku acting like this quite often lately. I wonder why.
…A few minutes of pondering later, I would come to understand firsthand why Shizuku’s cheeks turned red.
