A Beautiful Model In My Class Comes To The Coffee Shop Where I Work Part-time Only When I'm On Shift - Chapter 19
Episode 19: Promise
One evening.
I absentmindedly watched the face of my friend on TV.
“Does SHIZUKU-chan have a boyfriend or something?”
“Nope. Are you trying to stir up controversy?”
“No way! Of course not.”
As the host delivered his lines in a monotone, a burst of laughter filled the room.
At the center of the stage, Shizuku smiled along with the laughter around her.
According to Shizuku, it seemed necessary to appear on variety shows as part of promoting the drama.
Even if she wasn’t enthusiastic about it, she mentioned that since her agency insisted, she had no choice.
“Now, SHIZUKU-chan, this is your first time acting, right? How do you feel about the filming set? Although I think the drama is already in the middle, do you still feel nervous?”
“I get nervous every time…! There are still so many things I don’t know, and if it weren’t for the kindness of the seniors around me, I would have probably given up.”
This was probably her sincere feelings.
“And speaking of SHIZUKU-chan… What do you think of SHIZUKU-san on set, Inamori-san?”
The host directed the question to Reiko Inamori, who was sitting next to Shizuku.
Reiko Inamori, a hugely popular actress. She exuded confidence even in variety shows, unlike Shizuku who was beautiful in a different way.
“Well… I think SHIZUKU-chan is doing well. Oh, but there’s one thing I’m jealous of.”
“Jealous?”
“SHIZUKU-chan, her passion is really amazing. Even after filming, she goes around asking people about her acting, taking notes on everything she’s told…”
“I see.”
“She’s bustling around even after really hard shoots, so she’s really working hard. I’m motivated too, but my body just can’t keep up.”
“Well, maybe it’s because of age?”
“Hey, don’t lump me in with you.”
The studio erupted in laughter once again.
Shizuku, praised by Reiko Inamori, seemed a little embarrassed, showing a slightly awkward smile.
“You’re really working hard… Shizuku.”
I muttered to myself and left my room.
Watching Shizuku, I naturally felt motivated to work hard myself.
Today, I’ll practice making coffee again.
◇◆◇
“Phew…”
Shizuku, sitting at the table, took a sip of the iced coffee she ordered and let out a deep sigh.
“Are you okay? You seem more tired than usual.”
“Nah… sorry, I guess I seem like I’m trying to show off or something. I’m tired, but it’s not like I’ve hit my limit, so don’t worry.”
“……”
I furrowed my brows.
Was I being too lenient, wanting her to rest before reaching her limits?
“Even if I’m tired, drinking coffee here will help me recover, so it’s totally fine.”
“…Is that so.”
“But it’s really strange. When I drink coffee, I feel so much more energetic.”
“Coffee does have the effect of helping with fatigue recovery.”
Feeling more energetic after drinking coffee wasn’t just in her head.
As I’ve explained before, coffee has the effect of making fatigue less noticeable.
It’s the power of caffeine, also found in energy drinks.
As long as you stick to the recommended dosage, caffeine can be a big help in your daily life.
Of course, excessive intake is strictly forbidden.
Drinking too much caffeine can cause dizziness, nausea, and other health problems.
This varies from person to person, but in most cases, it’s best to limit coffee consumption to three to four cups a day.
“I did a bit of research too, you know. Coffee also has the effect of aiding fat burning, right?”
“Yeah, it’s thanks to chlorogenic acid, the key to that effect.”
Chlorogenic acid helps suppress sugar absorption and prevent the accumulation of visceral fat.
It seems to prevent diabetes and fatty liver, making it less likely to become obese.
“Coffee is a wonderful drink that is also gaining attention for its health benefits. But I’ll say it again, drinking too much can have negative effects on the body, so be careful not to overdo it. That’s a promise between you and me.”
“…Where did you make that promise?”
“…Huh?”
I wondered who I had made that promise to.
I felt a little scared, as if I had been manipulated by someone.
“Now then, can I have your attention, both of you?”
“What’s up, Master?”
As we both tilted our heads, Utahara-san placed a trench on the table. (By the way, a trench is a tray.)
In the trench, there were several containers, each containing slightly different coffee beans.
This scene seemed familiar to me.
“In our shop, we regularly select and sort beans. Since it’s almost summer and there will be more customers drinking iced coffee, I thought it’s time to change the lineup from spring. Would you like to help, Shizuku-chan?”
“Huh, is it really okay?”
“Of course! Since Jun-kun has already developed a refined palate, I also wanted some fresh opinions.”
Utahara-san said as she briskly prepared.
“Now, let’s start the tasting session…!”
