A Beautiful Girl Confessed Her Love to Me as a Punishment Game, but After We Started Dating, She Started Getting More and More Obsessive - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Fujisaki-kun and Yasumura-kun directed harsh gazes at me continuously.
Saigo-kun hesitated to bring up the main topic, and I failed to ask about it.
Classmates sensed the tense atmosphere, and the classroom felt heavy.
However, Kiryu-san thought I was “easy to talk to,” which made me happy.
I felt a bit restless. My light-novel-reading side whispered that there might be a chance, but my objective self-assessment restrained me, saying no way.
Kiryu-san probably found a loner like me, who usually avoided others, rare and interesting.
Even so, if Kiryu-san thought having a friend like me was fun, that was enough to make me happy.
Did my face show it?
Minami-san narrowed her eyes, looking somewhat dissatisfied.
“So, Kirino, how long do you plan to hang out with Numata?” Minami-san asked.
“What do you mean by that?” Kiryu-san replied.
Kiryu-san responded to Minami-san’s words with a low voice.
Her eyes resembled the cold glare she gave Dachi-san, seeming angry. I felt scared, my throat dry, but Minami-san continued speaking without flinching.
“I mean exactly what I said,” Minami-san stated.
“There’s no specific time limit,” Kiryu-san answered.
Kiryu-san replied with a stern face, and Minami-san opened her mouth to say something. However, a chair’s clattering sound drowned out her words.
“How long are you going to keep hanging out with a guy like him, Kiryu?” Yasumura-kun shouted.
Yasumura-kun raised his voice, probably because Kiryu-san, his crush, seemed to like me a little, which made him anxious.
Behind him, Fujisaki-kun stood halfway, attempting to stand up.
If Yasumura-kun had shouted a bit later, Fujisaki-kun might have come over.
“It’s none of your business, is it?” Kiryu-san retorted.
“It’s not like it’s none of my business!” Yasumura-kun exclaimed.
Yasumura-kun pointed at me, his face red, but Kiryu-san didn’t even meet his gaze.
Yasumura-kun hesitated slightly but persisted.
“If you were with Fujisaki, I’d accept it. He matches you. But what’s with this guy? He’s always in the corner, mumbling, unable to say what he wants. He’s a total loner who wouldn’t even get to talk to Kiryu!” Yasumura-kun complained.
“Don’t say things when you know nothing. Numata-kun isn’t gloomy or a loner,” Kiryu-san defended.
Well, I am gloomy and a loner, though…
I wondered what made her think otherwise, but Kiryu-san’s expression showed no sign of joking.
Yasumura-kun looked at me with disbelief.
“Why are you defending a guy like him? Kiryu, you’re not seriously going to keep hanging out with him, are you?” Yasumura-kun asked.
“For now, I have no plans to end this relationship,” Kiryu-san replied.
“Why…?” Yasumura-kun muttered.
Yasumura-kun looked like he might cry, then directed a resentful glare at me.
“Hey, don’t you feel anything? A guy like you with Kiryu is out of place. Don’t you think it’s pitiful for Kiryu?” Yasumura-kun questioned.
“I don’t think so,” I responded.
Saigo-kun stopped Yasumura-kun’s raised fist.
“Yasumura, are you defending him too?” Yasumura-kun asked.
“Violence is wrong,” Saigo-kun stated.
Kiryu-san and Minami-san looked at Yasumura-kun coldly.
“You get it, don’t you? Kiryu isn’t with you because she likes you. It’s just a mess among friends. Read the room and back off,” Yasumura-kun urged.
“Kirino isn’t like this because she’s upset,” Minami-san countered.
“She’s upset! Otherwise, why would she be with a guy like him…?” Yasumura-kun shouted.
“Yasumura, that’s enough,” Fujisaki-kun interrupted.
“Toru…” Yasumura-kun muttered.
Fujisaki-kun placed a hand on Yasumura-kun’s shoulder and turned to Kiryu-san.
“Kirino, we were wrong. Sorry. Ichika didn’t mean any harm, and we promise not to do things like that silly penalty game again. So, can you forgive us and make up?” Fujisaki-kun offered.
Fujisaki-kun extended his hand with a bright smile, but Kiryu-san looked at him like he was trash.
“Come on, Ichika, apologize to Kirino,” Fujisaki-kun prompted.
Either clueless or bold, Fujisaki-kun kept his bright smile and turned to urge Dachi-san to apologize.
Dachi-san bit her lower lip hard, looking extremely reluctant to apologize.
“Come on,” Fujisaki-kun encouraged.
Fujisaki-kun gently pushed Dachi-san’s back as she approached slowly.
Dachi-san trembled, lowered her head, and apologized.
“Sorry, Kirino. It was all my fault,” Dachi-san admitted.
“I see,” Kiryu-san replied.
“Great, we’re all good now! Kirino, let’s shake hands to make up,” Fujisaki-kun suggested.
“There was never much of a bond between us to fix,” Kiryu-san stated.
“What’s your problem? Ichika and I apologized, didn’t we?” Fujisaki-kun asked.
“Yes, I’m not angry anymore, so please don’t worry about me,” Kiryu-san responded.
“Why are you being so stubborn? Grow up,” Fujisaki-kun urged.
Kiryu-san sighed in exasperation and started packing her empty lunchbox.
“Hey, where are you going?” Fujisaki-kun called.
Kiryu-san left the classroom without a word. Saigo-kun stopped Fujisaki-kun from chasing her, shaking his head.
“What’s that, Saigo?” Fujisaki-kun asked.
“Going now would only make things worse,” Saigo-kun explained.
“Ugh, women are so hard to understand,” Fujisaki-kun complained.
“If you don’t get this, you’ll never make up with Kirino,” Minami-san remarked.
Minami-san left the classroom after saying that.
“What’s with her? Acting all high and mighty, just Kiryu’s sidekick,” Yasumura-kun spat.
Fujisaki-kun laughed without scolding Yasumura-kun’s words.
Dachi-san, with a dark expression, trembled and quietly slipped out of the classroom. Fujisaki-kun and Yasumura-kun didn’t seem to notice.
Both of them seemed uninterested in anyone but Kiryu-san.
The more I learned about Fujisaki-kun, the more I thought Kiryu-san probably disliked his personality.
I had thought they always got along well, but maybe that wasn’t the case.
I glanced at the clock; twenty minutes of lunch break remained.
The classroom atmosphere felt like hell.
Staying here and getting tangled up with Fujisaki-kun and the others seemed troublesome, so I quietly slipped out of the classroom.

Did he mean saigo or is yamamura some sort of name or even nickname?
