A Beautiful Girl Confessed Her Love to Me as a Punishment Game, but After We Started Dating, She Started Getting More and More Obsessive - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
A high ceiling and a splendid buffet spread with lots of food.
For me, exhausted and hungry after being bullied by Kiryu-san, this is a sight that makes my mouth water.
My stomach growls.
I feel a little embarrassed and look at Kiryu-san, who is smiling gently.
“Hehe. It seems like Kiryu-san is treating us, so feel free to eat as much as you like.”
“Eh? That… that’s too much… How much is this place?”
“I can’t say for breakfast since it’s only available for hotel guests, but for lunch, it’s around 2,500 yen. You get unlimited light meals, cakes, bread, and coffee.”
“I… I see.”
If that’s the case, then the amount my father gave me as pocket money will cover both mine and Kiryu-san’s part!
“But lunch starts at 11:30, and I think it’s better for the staff if we act like we’re being treated by my uncle.”
“Ah, well… um…”
If she says it like that, I can’t insist on paying!
“Then, I’ll graciously accept the meal. Please thank Kiryu-san for me.”
“Hehe, I understand. Let’s find a seat over there and grab some food.”
“Ah, okay.”
The seats are empty, and no customers are around.
The staff is wiping the tables, taking away dishes, and even starting to remove some buffet items.
I feel like I’m doing something wrong, but since no one is complaining, it’s probably been arranged in advance.
I decide not to think too much about it and go get some food.
I pick up some classic fried chicken and spaghetti, then head to the rice section.
There’s a slightly larger rice bowl, a rice cooker, and cubed tuna sashimi. Wait, tuna? They have tuna?
If it were a local specialty like bonito, I’d understand, but tuna is surprising.
Since it’s there, I decided to put some on my rice bowl.
I load it up and even grab another rice bowl to make a tuna donburi. Looks delicious.
I put a lot of wasabi and soy sauce on it and grabbed a drink.
I choose milk.
Before I take a proper look around, I want to fill my stomach.
When I get to the seat Kiryu-san mentioned, she’s not there.
I fold my hands and say “Itadakimasu,” then start nibbling on the fried chicken and finish my milk.
At that moment, Kiryu-san returns to the seat… Ah.
“Sorry, I ate first.”
“It’s fine. But you sure took a lot of tuna.”
“It’s rare, so it’s really good. But I was surprised they have tuna.”
“Really? Even so, Kagoshima ranks second in Japan for farmed tuna production.”
“Really?”
“My uncle has connections with the fishing ports, so he can buy the fish at a lower price.”
“Wow.”
I didn’t know that. I wonder if this is farmed too? It’s delicious.
On Kiryu-san’s plate, there was something like bonito tataki.
There’s also regular fried chicken, rice, and a variety of other things.
“Wow, Kiryu-san took a lot too.”
“Yeah.”
“I remember you only ate salad at school, so it’s a bit surprising.”
“Ah, well, today’s a cheat day.”
“Cheat day?”
“Well, to put it simply, if you just continue a restrictive diet, even with exercise to boost metabolism, you won’t lose weight properly.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. If the energy coming in is too little for your metabolism, your body will naturally lower its metabolism. So, you have to trick your brain into thinking it’s getting enough energy by eating regularly.”
“Ah, I see. But that makes sense. I’ve heard humans haven’t changed much in 100,000 years, so if there’s not enough food, the body might think it’s facing famine or hunger.”
“Exactly. When you think about it, eating less to avoid gaining weight could be a luxury choice. …By the way, what’s with your face? You’re frowning.”
“No, it’s just that there’s wasabi that hasn’t dissolved yet.”
“Did it sting?”
“Yeah.”
I reach for a drink, but I’ve already finished my milk.
Kiryu-san offers me some water.
I feel a bit better. Kiryu-san is smiling amusingly. Since we came to the buffet, I feel like she’s been smiling a lot.
“Thanks… I mean, in today’s world, there’s more temptation than in the past, and it’s so easy to give in. So even though you call it a luxury choice, I think it’s really impressive how you maintain your body by limiting your food intake.”
“Really.”
“Yeah. And you exercise regularly, eat salad lunches, plan for cheat days, and have goals. You were even studying extra in the mornings, besides your homework.”
“You really praise me a lot.”
“I’m not exactly praising you, but it’s just… surprising. You know, Kiryu-san is beautiful, gets good grades, is always at the center of class, so it felt like you were someone from a different world—someone who’s naturally pretty and smart, someone who’s always had different things than someone like me. But now I think… it’s not just talent. You’ve put in so much effort, and it’s changed my impression of you a bit…”
As I talk, I start sounding envious, and I lose track of what I want to say.
Kiryu-san lowers her head, maybe because I made her uncomfortable.
“Ah, sorry for talking so long. I’ll go get more food.”
I stuff my mouth full with the tuna donburi, then go grab cake, croissants, ice cream, and coffee. Since I took Kiryu-san’s water, I grab two cups of coffee. Also, I might not be able to drink much more, so I take some water too.
There’s honey dripping straight from a honeycomb.
Even though I’m excited, I feel more concerned about the awkward things I said to Kiryu-san.
I bring the coffee and water for Kiryu-san and sit back down.
Kiryu-san quickly looks away from me.
“Kiryu-san, um, forget what I said earlier…”
“I won’t. I won’t forget.”
Kiryu-san pouts and takes a sip of her coffee.
