“Pervert, aren’t you, Ariann-sama?”

With just those words and a look devoid of feelings completely, Kayla stood up continuously staring at me.

Sorry, because of my utter carelessness…

“Somehow… it was so soft and amazing, Kayla-chan’s body…”

“Probably, your thoughts and your words are misplacing each other. Well, come on, your coffee will get cold.”

Saying that, she handed me the coffee hastily. She had an expression which doesn’t seem to mind the incident at all.

Well, a guy who she doesn’t even register as a potential partner hugged her, and it’s not like even I would do something terrible to her as well. But still, it would’ve been nice if she showed a little more –getting flustered…

Well, I’ll just give my honest opinion of her. I’m really feeling jealous and lost!

“How to say it… um, yes. It was healing.”

“That’s good to hear. What is it then, were you expecting a moe character-like reaction from me?”

Kayla responded with a meaningful tone, made me remember that I had something I needed to discuss with her. Although it’s a bit troublesome to talk about it right after what happened…

“Um, Kayla. I will be changing the subject a bit; I think the Pure White Pigeon Party girls might be thinking of living together in a near future…”

As I said that, Kayla, who was drinking her coffee calmly, coughed lightly. She wiped off the coffee she spilled with her arm and then asked a question.

“W-What’s going on? What will you do then?”

“I plan to discuss it with you, Kayla.”

“Ah… someone like you really is….”

Saying that, she slightly grabbed her forehead.

Then, slowly opening her mouth, Kayla spoke with a hint of sadness…

“I will follow whatever Ariann-sama decides. And if I’m in the way, I’ll go back to my hometown. If the cohabitation begins, there’s no need for a maid, after all.”

Saying that, she picked up the manga she dropped, stood up, and simply said, “I’ll go pack my things then.”

…She seemed a little sad. Seeing a reaction that I can never have imagined coming from Kayla took me aback a little, but my words came out surprisingly straightforward.

“You’re not in the way at all. You’re my emotional support. I can’t imagine a life without Kayla. So, I want you to stay by my side.”

When I said that, she seemed to relax a bit and let go of the tension in her expression, showing a faint smile. Perhaps the tension had eased up on her. She sat back down on the sofa, seemingly relieved.

“Ariann-sama, you’re being unfair in just saying that so easily. Then, what should I do?”

I don’t know if what I’m about to say can be done or not in reality. I’m just spouting my selfish thoughts. However, if it’s Kayla, she might accept them. That’s what I thought.

“I… If possible, I would like you to get along with everyone in the Pure White Pigeon Party. And, about supporting me… maybe it’s a little too selfish of me?”

If Kayla supports me, I might still be able to stick along with my lies a little longer… Although there are many problems to address, but before that, I cautiously opened my eyes, as if to peek at Kayla’s expression.

There, I saw Kayla with a smile on the corner of her mouth.

“If we take away selfishness from Ariann-sama, what else will be left even? It’s alright, I’ll manage.”

“Thanks, Kayla.”

“I’m a maid, after all.”

I expressed my gratitude by taking Kayla’s hand. Kayla seemed a little embarrassed, turned her gaze away, and sighed softly. She must be getting tired of having to go along with the whims of such an unreliable master. Nevertheless, she made the decision to stay. That made me extremely happy.

(KAYLA POV)

After finishing my coffee, I got up to go to the bath. I made sure to lock the dressing room door firmly and confirmed that Ariann-sama couldn’t hear anything, before slumping down in the bathtub.

“T-That was so scary… I thought Ariann-sama would abandon me in that time…”

I let out a sigh that I had been holding back since then. I hugged my recently left jacket with all my might. Then, suddenly coming to my senses, I put my hands on my underwear and undress them. Then opening the door undressed, I lightly rinsed myself off before getting into the bathtub. It was healing my body that had got tired from the long day’s work.

“But still, ‘I want you to stay by my side ‘, uhnn… Kyaa~!”

I lightly splashed the surface of the bathwater repeatedly. Because of that, the water droplets that flew towards me mixed with my tears that came for being relieved, as both disappeared into the bath.
